Jan. 28—The strategic watchword of international relations over the past ten days is not “tanks” for Ukraine, but “sovereignty” for all nations. There is no such thing as national sovereignty in the West’s vaunted “rules-based” order of “democracy.” |
Jan. 13—The Schiller Institute online symposium set for Saturday, Jan. 14, on the occasion of the national U.S. holiday weekend honoring the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is a critical intervention in a world with two fast-moving vectors: the Global NATO war drive threatening nuclear holocaust, and the counter to that, which is not simply “anti-war,” but is the drive for deliberate development in the interests of all humanity—the active concept of peace. |
Jan. 7—As of the first week of the New Year, the escalation is dramatic for confrontation and militarization, not only in Ukraine, making general war all the more likely. It is no time to back down from sounding the alarm, and now time for organizing for the alternative: peace through development. |
Dec. 15—The world remains in dangerous and escalating circumstances toward nuclear war. With the range of 2,000 nuclear warheads launch-ready on short notice in North America and Eurasia, the crazed hawk faction in Global NATO is attempting to impose a complete black-out of awareness of this reality, and of any voices sounding the alarm against it. But we can break out of the crisis. |
Dec. 10—The war threat situation is worsening by the day. It is epitomized by the ceremony at Omaha, Nebraska on Dec. 9, for the changeover of command of the U.S. Strategic Command. Present were the outgoing commander Adm. Charles Richard; the new commander Gen. Anthony Cotton; and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. They each held forth, as would Dr. Strangelove, on aspects of the “tripolar” nuclear situation with the U.S., Russia and China, and that the U.S. has to “compete successfully.” |
Dec. 4—In Washington, D.C. yesterday, a special Dona Nobis Pacem Vigil was held on the Ellipse in front of the tall National Christmas tree across from the White House, by Schiller Institute members and collaborators singing the universally known canon, presenting signs, and handing out a message that the name for peace is that there must be development. Although at midday, and lasting some two hours, the event reached hundreds of people, including visitors from around the world, and the import is international. The effect was not just from the beautiful music, the words of the prayer—“grant us peace”—nor just from the signs, which said, for example, “Bridges Not Bombs,” and “Peace through Development,” and “No Nuclear War.” |
Nov. 21—COP27 concluded Nov. 20 as FLOP27. Formally, the release of its joint statement may have saved some pretense of continuation of the 30-year-long dirty operation (started at the UN Rio Earth Summit in 1992), but that’s all it is. The air is hissing out of the green balloon. |
Nov. 12—The Schiller Institute held an international (online) symposium Nov. 12, titled, “The Physical Economy of the noösphere: Reviving the Heritage of Vladimir Vernadsky.” It was dedicated to reviving the name, method and mission of the great Russian-Ukrainian scientist Vladimir Vernadsky (1863-1945). The purpose, as the invitation stated, was to support scientists and inspire citizens, especially young people, the world over, to confer, “to improve the condition of mankind—to develop the noösphere.” The exciting seven-hour, two panel event featured presentations by 13 scientists, engineers and policymakers, with live discussion, including questions from the world audience. The speakers represented six nations—the U.S., Russia, Italy, Germany, South Africa and Egypt—with viewership numbering in the hundreds live, and fast on the way to multiple thousands since. |
Nov. 11—Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche today issued a clarion call for leading nations of the Non-Aligned Movement to step forward to head off the danger of thermonuclear war which threatens to annihilate humanity today. The Non-Aligned Movement is probably the most important force on the planet to overcome geopolitics at this time, and it is by stopping geopolitics that we will avoid World War III, she told an international conference in Indonesia on the Non-Aligned Movement’s role in past and future history. |
Nov. 3—Today the British Ambassador to Russia, Deborah Bronnert, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, over the British role in the October 29 drone and missile attack on Russia’s Black Sea fleet in Sevastopol. Afterward, the Ministry released a statement identifying the place, date, time, and military units involved in British training and collaboration with Ukraine’s marine special forces, recently, and since 2020. |
Oct. 30—A new documentary on the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis (“A World on the Verge: Lessons of the Cuban Missile Crisis”) was broadcast on Russia’s Channel One today, in which Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the current generation of Western politicians are trying to “toy” with nuclear weapons irresponsibly. At the time of the 1962 crisis, he said, “Khrushchev and Kennedy found the strength to show responsibility and wisdom, and now we don’t see such willingness on the part of Washington and its satellites.” |
Oct. 28—Four outstanding international events this past week provide platforms for ongoing momentum for development and peace, but the danger of the nuclear war threat remains severe. |
Oct. 15—Based out of New York City, a day-long international policy conference sponsored by the Schiller Institute was held today online, and in-person in Manhattan, titled, “Build the New Paradigm, Defeat Green Fascism.” The powerful event was designed and conducted by “next generation” leaders, and involved 26 speakers (some live, some online, and some by pre-recorded video) of all ages from seven nations (U.S., Haiti, South Africa, France, Germany, Yemen and China). The two panels of speakers featured lively discussion sessions, with questions from the room, and around the world, including Peru and Uganda. |
Oct. 7—EIR News Service and the Schiller Institute hosted a powerful media availability yesterday, titled, “We Will Not Be Silenced! Speaking Truth in Times of War,” circulating on many platforms, where individuals on the Ukraine hit list, and others, spoke out against the Global NATO networks behind it. At one point, Col. Richard Black (ret.) stated, “The one thing that all of humanity has in common is the need to have a voice.” |
Oct. 2—Today, President Vladimir Putin continued the protocol for the accession to Russia of the four areas—Lugansk, Donets, Zaporozhye and Kherson, which voted in favor of accession last week. Putin provided to the Duma their requests, which he signed Sept. 30. The Duma is expected to review the documents Oct. 3; the Federation Council will review them Oct. 4. The Russian Constitutional Court approved the accession documents earlier today. Putin has appointed as his Presidential representatives for the process of accession, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Deputy Foreign Minister Yevgeny Ivanov. |
Sept. 28—There are outstanding features of the Sept. 26 multiple detonations of the Nord Stream 1 and and Nord Stream 2 pipelines, from the point of view of, who had the opportunity, motive and insanity to conduct such sabotage. Many informed sources have come out with to-the-point commentary on this, summarized below, which points the finger at the NATO bloc. |
Sept. 21—Today Russian President Vladimir Putin gave an address to his nation, giving a situation report on Ukraine, and why he has taken the step to order a new, “partial” mobilization of forces, involving a call-up of 300,000 more personnel, and related, grave measures. His comprehensive statement is posted on the Kremlin website for world attention. |
Sept. 8—Today was the 100th birthday of Lyndon H. LaRouche, Jr.. the economist-scientist-statesman ranking among history’s greatest philosopher leaders of all time. His birthday was observed throughout the world with rallies (Berlin, Paris, Houston, Washington DC, Boston, and more), statements and an all-day video-marathon featuring notable speeches by LaRouche, and messages of tribute and appreciation from all ages and nations. |
Aug. 28—Global NATO’s operations in recent years, especially since the 1991 break-up of the Soviet Union, have been more and more blatant and lethal, towards attempting to establish world domination. In the arc of its tyranny, one marker date is December 2017, when the U.S. President issued to Congress (mandated by a 1986 law) a new National Security Strategy document which explicitly declared Russia and China to be the enemy. That became the new, compulsory “narrative.” |
Aug. 22—Today, the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia issued its statement, with names and details of how a Ukraine secret services operation is responsible for the car bomb assassination on Aug. 20 of Russian political figure Darya Dugina, near Moscow. The perpetrator was a Ukrainian citizen, traced from her entry into Russia in July 2022, her surveillance of the target(s) in Moscow, and her subsequent escape this weekend to Estonia. This is a grave incident, making the dangerous strategic situation even worse, given that the assassination is an instance of state-sponsored terrorism. |
July 28—Today President Joe Biden and President Xi Jinping spoke for over two hours, at the request of Biden, which is all to the good, given the dangerous state of the world. In the context of their discussion of Taiwan, and Western actions, Pres. Xi warned, as translated in the official China read-out, “Those who play with fire, will perish by it.” This was not identified in the U.S. read-out on the call, which stated with deliberate ambiguity, “On Taiwan, President Biden underscored that the United States policy has not changed and that the United States strongly opposes unilateral efforts to change the status quo or undermine peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.” |
July 24—The African Union Commission issued a statement late July 22, welcoming the “Black Sea Grain Initiative” signed that day by representatives of Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN. This year’s AU Chairman Mackey Sall, President of Senegal, said he had gone to Sochi to meet with President Putin June 3, with this very same appeal for opening grain shipments, and for a resolution to the conflict in Ukraine. Sall thanked all heads of state and the UN for their involvement in this new agreement on foods and fertilizers. |
July 18—The Dutch farmers who have been in the streets with their tractors in recent weeks, protesting the Green Reset anti-science shut down of food production, have called for support demonstrations from others around the world this coming Saturday July 23. “The World Goes Dutch” is the title of one video posting on the call, which has the theme of non-violent action, and plays excerpts from Martin Luther King, Jr., showing current protests of farmers, fishermen, truckers and others, and past scenes from the early 20th century. Other farm protests have been held this summer in Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, Canada and elsewhere. |
July 11—This evening at the White House, NASA gave a special briefing to the President and Vice President to preview the stunning new results from the James Webb Space Telescope. One preview photo was released, showing a scene of shining lights amidst darkness, from 13 billion years ago. NASA Administrator Bill Nelson, who has been in space, stressed that with this new capability, “We’ll be able to answer questions, we don’t yet even know to ask.” |
July 7—Today’s headline grabber was Boris Johnson’s press conference at No. 10 Downing Street to finally announce his exit. He has resigned as Conservative Party Chairman; and will have to be booted out as Prime Minister, since he wants to stay on until one is chosen. Good riddance. |
