Dec. 10, 2024 (EIRNS)—The dramatic events of the previous days have shown that the world has still not escaped the dregs of British geopolitical thinking. As one prominent author recently quoted Winston Churchill from 1929: “The story of the human race is War. Except for brief and precarious interludes there has never been peace in the world; and before history began murderous strife was universal and unending.”

Dec. 4, 2024 (EIRNS)—In her weekly webcast, Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche observed that “what we see right now is an unbelievable destabilization of the entire world architecture…. One has the feeling that the entire foundation of the world—the world system as we have known it in even the recent period—is shaking, is crumbling.” She also made the point that: “the world has never been closer to the danger of nuclear extinction.”

Nov. 26, 2024 (EIRNS)—When Russia fired its new hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic missile on Nov. 21, decimating a Ukrainian weapons depot in Dnipro, it was effectively a message to the West that Russia was not playing around. The attack came after the United States no later than Nov. 17 had lifted restrictions on Ukraine’s use of long-range missiles to strike Russia—and Ukraine’s ensuing use of such missiles—crossing a red line which put the U.S. in direct, open conflict with Russia. The message should have been clear: further escalation means all options are now on the table.

Nov. 20, 2024 (EIRNS)—Over the past 48 hours, the strategy has become clear. After the Biden Administration refused to comment on the explosive revelations over the weekend that the United States has given Ukraine permission to use American missiles to strike targets deep inside internationally-recognized Russian territory—an acknowledged act of war—Ukraine unleashed a volley of missiles on Nov. 19 into Russia’s Bryansk Region. That on the same day that Russian President Vladimir Putin signed an executive order updating its nuclear weapons doctrine, which includes the qualification that “an aggression against Russia from any non-nuclear state but involving or supported by any nuclear state as their joint attack.”

ov. 15, 2024 (EIRNS)—It’s been hardly a week since the election of President-elect Donald Trump in the U.S., and it’s already clear that big changes are afoot. The hysteria about some of Trump’s cabinet picks continues, in particular around the role of Tulsi Gabbard as the future Director of National Intelligence—a decision that could potentially transform the U.S. Presidency’s relationship to the intelligence community for the first time since the 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy. There are, of course, plenty of other cabinet picks which are horrible. But the fact remains that a potential sea-change exists, and it is precisely for this reason that there is such a clamoring among the neoliberal establishment.

Nov. 5, 2024 (EIRNS)—At the time of the writing of this briefing, the results of the Nov. 5 presidential elections are still uncertain. However, whatever the result turns out to be, neither candidate’s victory could in itself bring about the decisive changes needed to address the fundamental crises facing the U.S. and the world. Now, more than ever, the main factor which will determine future events will be the role played by a committed minority in bringing to fruition a new dynamic within the bankrupt and imperialistic Western world—a potential which is increasingly obvious to those with eyes to see, though not reflected in the presidential campaigns.

Oct. 31, 2024 (EIRNS)—While we are now less than one week away from the U.S. elections, the truly consequential events that will shape the future of the world are taking place on an entirely different stage. To the extent that citizens work to bring these substantive issues to the surface within their nations—rather than succumb to what seems possible given the available options—will the fate of not only the Collective West, but of the entire world be determined.

Oct. 19, 2024 (EIRNS)—Russian President Vladimir Putin made it perfectly clear Friday, Oct. 18. what the stakes are over the conflict in Ukraine. When asked about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s statement that Ukraine demands either NATO membership or nuclear weapons, Putin replied, with a look of conviction and animus that almost needs no words: “Under no circumstances will Russia allow this to happen.”

Oct. 14, 2024 (EIRNS)—As the U.S. Congress is busy campaigning in their districts, and the media bombard people with emotion-laden news in the leadup to the Nov. 5 U.S. elections, the world is operating on a distinctly different timeline. Southwest Asia sits on a razor’s edge of exploding, as Israel expands its barbaric actions into Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon, and threatens to launch a full-blown attack on Iran. Iran’s President and Foreign Minister are engaging in a flurry of diplomatic activity to attempt to stave this off—President Masoud Pezeshkian spoke to French President Emmanuel Macron, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi traveled to Iraq after having visited Beirut, Damascus, Riyadh and Doha in a little over a week.

Oct. 7, 2024 (EIRNS)—The world is sitting on an absolute powder keg, as there are now two major conflicts which could erupt at any moment into a global war. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant is scheduled to visit Washington this week where he will be discussing a potential response to Iran’s missile attack last week, and at the same time working to bring the U.S. fully into Israel’s war against Iran. Despite the echo chamber that exists in Washington, there are even some voices across the trans-Atlantic that recognize that nothing good will come if this policy is continued—as French President Emmanuel Macron has most recently exhibited in calling for an end to weapons shipments to Israel.

Oct. 5, 2024 (EIRNS)—On Friday, Oct. 4, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov made the apt point that, “We are navigating uncharted military-political territory.” While his comments referred to the growing hostility between NATO and Russia, along with the utter collapse in diplomatic relations, the comment could also be applied to the world as a whole.

Sept. 27, 2024 (EIRNS)—As has become painfully obvious over the recent period, Western leaders who have traded their souls for a place at the table of the Anglo-American imperium are standing in opposition to peace. On Friday, Sept. 27, a group of 20 nations founded the “Friends of Peace” group on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Headed by China and Brazil, and centered around their “six common understandings” to end the Ukraine-Russia conflict, these nations insisted that more fighting and weapons is not the pathway to peace. As China’s top diplomat Wang Yi said at the event: “It took time for other people to understand that other paths don’t lead to peace.” China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian claimed that fully 110 nations are supportive of their initiative.

Sept. 22, 2024 (EIRNS)—Many are baffled at how the seemingly “civilized” West has arrived at the current state it exists in today. Although likely an underestimate, it is now reported that the U.S. homeless population exceeds 650,000. Add to this the rate of drug addiction and overdose, which has killed hundreds of thousands over the past 20 years; the amount of train derailments—among those trains and railroads that still exist; the skyrocketing national debt and the far more dangerous though not discussed problem of financial derivatives. To these a dozens of other specifics could be added from across the U.S. and Europe, all illustrating in gruesome detail the collapse of the trans-Atlantic system.

Sept. 20, 2024 (EIRNS)—“There’s no other issue today that is more important than preventing nuclear war. And we almost had one last week.” That is how former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter started off Friday’s meeting of the International Peace Coalition. This is not being “alarmist,” Ritter insisted—“If you are not scared to death, then you’re the problem, I’m not the problem.”

Sept. 13, 2024 (EIRNS)—On Friday, the eyes of the world were focused on the White House meeting between the Collective Biden and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, on the critical question of whether or not the White House will approve the London-authored policy of unleashing NATO’s precision-guided long-range missiles against Russia, using Ukraine as their cat’s-paw. Prior to the D.C. meeting, Secretary of State Blinken and British Foreign Secretary Lammy had met in Kiev with Zelenskyy, and leaked to the media that the deal had been agreed upon, but to not expect a formal announcement coming out of the Biden-Starmer meeting.

Sept. 8, 2024 (EIRNS)—September 8 marked the 102nd birthday of Lyndon LaRouche—the world-historic statesman and the most accurate economic forecaster of his time. There is no one whose life and contributions stand more at the center of current world history than LaRouche, and at the same time whose enemies tried harder to silence, slander, and eliminate him. As the current world system is in a process of breakdown, shifting from the post-World War II order to a new, post-colonial architecture (if we survive such a transition), there is no one whose work will play a more definitive role in determining the success of a new system than Lyndon LaRouche—whose legacy is currently being carried forward by his wife, Helga Zepp-LaRouche.

Sept. 3, 2024 (EIRNS)—The annual Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) opened in Vladivostok, Russia, on Tuesday, Sept. 3, with the apt title: “Far East 2030. Combining Strengths To Create New Potential.” It is expected that as many as 6,000 participants from 76 countries will be in attendance, and will be discussing themes such as “New Contours of International Cooperation,” “Technologies To Ensure Independence,” and “Financial System of Values.” In his greetings to the conference, Russian President Putin noted that “The influence of the Asia-Pacific region in international affairs is growing fast.”

Aug. 31, 2024 (EIRNS)—Extremely concerning developments continue to emerge out of Ukraine and its increasingly flagrant attacks into Russian territory. Late on Friday, August 30, Ukraine shelled a number of civilian targets in Russia’s Belgorod region, killing 5 and wounding at least 50. Russia’s Foreign Ministry called the attacks a “pre-planned and carefully prepared terrorist act of intimidation.” Coming on the heels of Ukraine’s invasion into Russia’s Kursk region, which had already pulled the legs out from under any prospect of a negotiated peace settlement, this act is only serving to further inflame the situation.

Aug. 24, 2024 (EIRNS)—The world is quickly approaching a boundary condition, wherein the current strategic framework can no longer continue to exist. Previous precedents have already been broken, red lines have been crossed, and the world has entered into uncharted territory. As founder of the Schiller Institute and convener of the International Peace Coalition Helga Zepp-LaRouche has recently said, the next three to six months are going to be the most dangerous moments in history, and the prospect of a global war of annihilation is an increasingly real possibility.

Aug. 17, 2024 (EIRNS)—Friday’s meeting of the International Peace Coalition featured an appearance by former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter, who joined Helga Zepp-LaRouche and others to address the increasingly brazen crackdown on dissenting opinion in the United States. Ritter’s house was raided Aug. 7 by the FBI and law enforcement officials, whereupon over two dozen of his documents and other property were seized. Ritter wrote of the event: “The FBI agents did more than seize my personal electronics when they searched my home on Aug. 7. They stole the truth.”

July 31, 2024 (EIRNS)—On early Wednesday morning, July 31, Israel assassinated the political chief of Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, during his visit to Tehran for the inauguration of the new Iranian President. Not only was he one of the top leaders of the Hamas government, but Haniyeh was the top official involved in the negotiations for a potential ceasefire and hostage deal with Israel, therefore all but guaranteeing that a diplomatic resolution in Gaza will be taken off the table. Taken together with the fact that only hours earlier, Israel assassinated a leading Hezbollah commander in a residential neighborhood in Beirut, Lebanon, it’s clear we are on the cusp of a major war exploding throughout the entire region and beyond.

July 18, 2024 (EIRNS)—In her weekly dialogue today, Helga Zepp-LaRouche said that the failed assassination attempt on Donald Trump last weekend demonstrated on how thin a thread the world currently is hanging. If Trump hadn’t made the quick turn of his head, effectively causing the bullet to graze his ear instead of ending his life, this would have unleashed a catastrophic crisis, not only within the United States but in the world as a whole. Further, given that Trump is expected to push for immediate negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, strategically his death would have almost certainly meant World War III in the near term.

July 14, 2024 (EIRNS)—The July 13 assassination attempt against President Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania shocked the nation and the world, bringing the country literally an inch away from total chaos. For the first time in decades, a President or Presidential candidate has suffered an assassination attempt, and at a crucial time in history at that. This is not simply an attack on Donald Trump, but is an attack on the institution of the Presidency of the United States, and on that institution’s ability to respond organically, or non-linearly, in a moment of grave crisis.

July 10, 2024 (EIRNS)—As the NATO summit drags on in Washington this week, it’s occurring under the dark and gloomy clouds of failure. The Atlantic Council’s Frederick Kempe summed it up in his Inflection Points column on July 9, titled: “Putin, Xi, Orbán, and Modi Provide a Disturbing Backdrop to the Start of the NATO Summit.” Kempe paints the picture of the visits to Moscow (July 5) and Beijing (July 8) by the new rotating president of the Council of the European Union Viktor Orbán, the July 8-9 visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Moscow, and all this amid the increasing frailty of Joe Biden who is inconveniently the lynchpin behind NATO’s supposedly unified strategy. The trend is clear.
