Feb. 9—There is something monstrously inhuman that is unfolding outside of the Gazan city of Rafah—and may, indeed, have unfolded by the time that you read this. |
Feb. 8—On this day, 300 years ago, the Russian Academy of Sciences was born, as the key as to how to seriously run a country. Tsar Peter the Great established the Academy based upon his discussions and deliberations with the Renaissance thinker, Gottfried Leibniz. Leibniz’s original memorandum in 1697 called for the Tsar to: “Establish a general institution for the sciences and the arts” with members “well versed in science and the arts and of high genius…. Import foreign things that are worthwhile, … there will be large observatories, mills, shops, pharmacies and factories, which will contain all kinds of machines and inventions actually put into practice…. Determine the exact relations of the country to determine its needs.” And whatever is needed but lacking must be obtained by imitating and perfecting what is being done elsewhere. |
Friday questions: Assessment of Carlson-Putin interview; Special Counsel Report on Biden; Update on Ukraine and Gaza. |
Feb. 7—February 7 marked four months that Israel’s shocking blood-letting has been underway in Gaza, actions which the International Court of Justice (ICJ) characterized in its Jan. 26 order as a case of “plausible genocide.” The ICJ ordered not only Israel, but all nations that have provided military and other support for the Israeli atrocities, to immediately cease and desist, lest they too be found complicit in the genocide. |
The neoliberal, neocon establishment of the West remains fully committed to wars and austerity, and neocolonial policies against the Global South. |
Feb. 6—The world is undergoing transformation and experiencing tensions and upheavals at a level unparalleled in many generations. The world of the past is never returning; there will be no return to a comfortable (or not so comfortable) time of yesteryear. Whether the future path of world humanity is a path to hell or to reason, is for us to decide. |

Hold the governments of the TransAtlantic accountable under the "known or should have known" ruling against genocide of the Nuremberg Tribunal. |
Feb. 6—If historians will have the opportunity to look back on the human race in 2024, they will undoubtedly identify this period as a defining moment in history. No, not because of a showdown between “democracy” and “autocracy,” nor over “liberal” versus “traditional” values. Nor because of a “culture war” or a fight over our national or personal identities. This moment will be a defining period because it’s the end of a system which can no longer continue to exist, no matter which culture, ideology, or political system takes power. The oligarchical system is dying, and resistance to it, along with a passionate commitment to build a better future, is growing. |
To the Editor: If one were consciously intending to kill untold numbers of Palestinians, it’s hard to imagine a more efficient tactic than suspending funding to the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which delivers the paltry amount of food, water, and medicine that Gaza’s tormentors deign to allocate. The decision by the Biden Administration and seventeen other Western-aligned governments to do just that, imparts to their hands a bloodstain that no amount of soap could ever cleanse. |
Feb. 4—We summarize the strategic situation, and what must be done to immediately reverse the current rush to genocide and global war, as follows: |
Feb. 3—Within the first week after the International Court of Justice (World Court) decision for Israel to stop activities in Gaza that are clearly plausible (in legal parlance) as genocide, Israel, the United States, U.K., and a gaggle of backers have escalated both the immediate killing in Palestinian territories, and also regional strife, which can result in world war. The Anglosphere is deploying all deadly means on behalf of their killer “rules-based order”: bombing, bullying at the United Nations, and deliberate cut-off of resources for desperate people. |
Feb. 2—As you read this, the unacknowledged war on Iran, “phase three” of Global NATO’s war with Russia and China—first, Ukraine, then Gaza—is being launched by the Biden Administration. Three locations in Iraq and four in Syria were targeted and bombed, using 125 “precision munitions.” Simultaneous with these attacks, Biden appeared at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, together with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, and Air Force Gen. Charles Q. Brown, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, to greet the remains of Sergeant William Jerome Rivers, 46, of Carrollton, Georgia, Specialist Kennedy Ladon Sanders, 24, of Waycross, Georgia, and Specialist Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, 23, of Savannah, Georgia. |

Feb. 1—The disgusting decision by the U.S., Britain, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Switzerland to suspend their funding of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), which is the major supplier of assistance to the besieged people of the Gaza Strip, and the confirmation from IDF sources that Hamas tunnels are being flooded with water, combined, paint a picture of murder and forced displacement. |
What is the importance of the preliminary ruling of the International Court of Justice? Does it really change anything? Can the European Union survive? |
Jan. 31—On Jan. 26, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague handed down a binding order finding that South Africa had presented a “plausible case” of genocide by Israel, and further ordered that Israel immediately cease any such actions in Gaza while a full investigation is conducted. The ICJ also demanded that Israel file a report with the Court on progress made within 30 days. |
While Israel continues to kill and destroy in Gaza, with support from the Biden administration, the rest of the world is demanding a ceasefire. |
The ruling last week by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on allegations of genocide by Israel offers a path to a new security and development architecture. |

Jan. 30—It has been hard to digest the daily slaughter in Gaza, much less the foreboding sense of imminent doom, awaiting the day when the word goes out that a new epidemic has been born—born out of the lethal mixture of 1.9 million displaced Palestinians, most living through a winter exposed to the elements, trapped without proper sustenance, without clean water, without proper sanitation, living in overcrowded makeshift camps. |
Jan. 29—Last week’s International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling in The Hague has put the world dynamic into stark relief. It was always a misnomer to discuss the war in Gaza as merely an issue of Israel’s occupation and the ensuing response to that by Hamas. While that certainly plays a factor, it is a managed factor, a mere player on the stage of a poorly-directed drama. But it is directed, nonetheless. |
