Oct. 26—Former and currently serving elected officials and citizen leaders from the Americas and Europe will convene today in the Congress of Mexico in Mexico City and via Zoom videoconference, from 10:00 am to 1:00 p.m. EDT, to rally citizens across every continent to join them in bringing the world back from the brink of nuclear war. They are acting on the principle that the cause of humanity is one and the same for all, that of securing an international order in which every nation, and all people, can live in peace and growing prosperity. Both security and economic development are indivisible.
Oct. 18—It is hard to imagine a starker contrast than that offered by the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation now underway in China, which is organizing optimistic plans for further, large-scale infrastructure projects encircling the planet, on the one hand; and the devastation and destruction of infrastructure and human life, horrendously exemplified by the deadly strike on the hospital in Gaza on Oct. 17, on the other.
The war hawks are preparing for a three-front nuclear war, which they think can be won. They are wrong, and their war plans can be outflanked and defeated!
Oct. 4—The entire Western system is unravelling at breath-taking speed—economically, politically, socially, in every imaginable way. The fissures are everywhere and in plain view:
Jan. 22—“We are in a period of tectonic changes, and when you are in a period of the collapse of one system and the emergence of a new one, the rules of the so-called ‘rules-based order’ somehow don’t function anymore. The method of manipulation of the population is quickly reaching the point which Lincoln talked about, that you cannot fool all the people all of the time, and this is one of those moments coming true.”
So many institutions of the U.S. intellectual establishment are now echoing the Schiller Institute and demanding the release of Afghanistan’s aid and reserve funds—15 think-tanks and organizations in a Jan. 8 joint letter to President Biden and others on their own websites—that there is clearly a horrible realization: United States financial and economic sanctions are murdering an innocent people, for insufficient loyalty to NATO occupying forces. Any citizen who thinks this crime is unrelated to the threat of an imminent, much bigger conflict over Ukraine, is mistaking moral posturing for morality. In the U.S.-Russia meetings now going on in Geneva about NATO in Eastern Europe and Ukraine, moral posturing by U.S. diplomats has quickly and completely replaced the personal diplomacy between Presidents Biden and Putin which seemed to give hope of a solution. After the bilateral U.S.-Russia stage of the meetings on Jan. 10, State Department spokesman Ned Price said that the United States would never consider keeping Ukraine out of NATO, “had not intended to reach any agreement” with Russia, and did not even “consider the talks as a negotiation.” He concluded his briefing with a talking points list of Russian “malign activities,” to claim that Russia, and only Russia, had to de-escalate and make concessions, to allow NATO forces and missiles to complete their long advance right to Russia’s borders—while Russian troops must vacate their own western border regions and “return to their permanent bases.” Secretary of State Tony Blinken added, at the same time, a gratuitous attempt to gloat over Russia’s assistance to the government of Kazakhstan to control rioting and attempted insurrection. Unless President Joe Biden intervenes personally again, Russia’s proposed agreements have been bluntly and permanently rejected. This is the equivalent of Nikita Khrushchev having refused ever to consider withdrawing Soviet missiles from America’s southern border in the terrifying Cuban Missiles Crisis of October 1962. At that time, tens of millions of frightened people around the world had already imagined what that refusal would mean. Even if the consequence now is “merely” a conventional conflict in Ukraine, U.S. former chief weapons inspector and military expert Scott Ritter gives an idea why that would not go well for NATO forces. What if the consequence is only the “complete rupture of relations” threatened by Putin and a deep and immediate Cold War. The nation with the world’s most rapidly expanding and technologically advancing economy, and with the greatest anti-poverty and development influence in Africa, South and East Asia, is firmly in partnership with Russia. This is clearly shown once again in the suppression of the apparently failed “color revolution” attempt in Kazakhstan. If the Biden Administration has decided the United States will attack and confront Russia and China together in a new Cold War—opposing them in space, fighting their policies of exporting nuclear power to third countries, demanding they stop using coal for power, attacking China’s Belt and Road and poverty eradication policies, and so on, who will it have in its corner? Why, the British Empire, of course—those green royals and Bojo the Clown and Her Majesty’s forces eager to deploy into Ukraine. What will America have in reserve? No development credit institution; a weak economic recovery from a deep recession; a labor force 3 million workers and 3.5 million jobs down from two years ago; declining real incomes; a Federal Reserve creating economic calamities worldwide, as the IMF warned Jan. 9, trying to stop the inflation it caused. But far worse than any of this is the ongoing strangulation of the people of Afghanistan by U.S. sanctions. It is causing a growing cascade of deaths by starvation, by freezing in homes with no winter fuel, in a nation for which the United States clearly bears responsibility after 20 years’ war and occupation. Murdered for the sin of not sustaining a puppet government when NATO left it. These sanctions are a crime against humanity. With this Afghanistan as its “banner,” nations will instinctively shun an Anglo-American attempt to make the rules for the world. There would be perverse new meaning, as Schiller Institute President Helga Zepp-LaRouche said today, to the phrase “Afghanistan, the graveyard of empires.” This must be prevented, reversed. The policy must be changed to one of development, by Helga LaRouche’s Operation Ibn Sina. The Schiller Institute’s urgent organizing for this objective, will take its next step forward with a webinar on Martin Luther King Day, Monday, Jan. 17.
The Schiller Institute held a virtual international conference July 24, on the theme, “There Is No ‘Climate Emergency’—Apply Science and Economic Development To Stop Blackouts and Death,” just at the time of escalating green hysteria blaming “climate change” and CO₂ emissions for the several severe disasters at present including flooding in North Europe, China and India, the drought and heat wave in Western North America, and warnings of electricity blackouts this summer across large parts of the United States. The presentations and discussion among 20 speakers, representing eight countries, including six states, brought out that these emergencies are not from climate change, but weather events whose degree of damage is directly related to lack of infrastructure. Moreover, if the green agenda is allowed to continue, there will be mass breakdown and depopulation. The panelists included scientists, engineers, retired military, farm leaders, a physician, a state lawmaker and others, many of whom have been leading battles within their respective sectors to debunk the green axioms, and mobilize for advanced power and infrastructure systems. Out of the conference, ideas were exchanged for even more concerted action, involving specific projects of water management, nuclear power advancement, and especially for public health security. The specifics included the Transaqua Project to refill Lake Chad in Africa, the North American Water and Power Alliance in North America, and priorities for nuclear power including micro-nuclear, small modular nuclear reactors and more. Next weekend the Schiller Institute will host a conference—July 31, 10 am EDT—focusing on the strategic importance of getting to work on full-scale development in Afghanistan. One lifelong nuclear technology expert summed up the day’s discussion by saying the dialogue was so powerful, it was on a par with the Davos Forum—a 50 year institution, except that the Schiller Institute event was for the good, and Davos is a bunch of billionaire elites. The keynote was given by Schiller Institute founder and President Helga Zepp-LaRouche. (See accompanying transcription in full). She repeatedly denounced the green axiom that humanity is bad, pollutes and ruins nature. Just the opposite, mankind’s creative nature is coherent with the development of the universe. The conference was opened by a video of a 1985 speech by Lyndon LaRouche addressing this topic, titled “Science is Good.” LaRouche said, “The good is the power of the mind to recognize this principle of reason as the lawful ordering of the universe….” The conference had two sessions, beginning with, “The Economic Effects of Green MAD—Mutually Assured Destruction” which included firsthand reports from Europe and the United States on flooding, electric grid subversion, and land use attacks on agriculture—all from the Green New Deal agenda. (The Panel 1 conference speeches are in this briefing.) Schiller Institute Science Liaison Jason Ross opened and concluded the First Panel, emphasizing humanity’s “relationship to the environment” as actively within our power to affect for the good. Moreover, “we are not an Earth-limited species.” Think what we can be doing with great opportunities, like astronomical observation from the far side of the Moon. The second panel focused on the vision, science and technology for intervening to advance development. It was titled, “Energy, World Health and the End of War: The Power of Energy Flux Density.” The Schiller Institute’s Dennis Speed moderated, with Panel 1 Co-Moderator Diane Sare, Candidate for U.S. Senate in New York.
Stop watching YouTube videos about what supposedly really happened at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6! To understand and successfully respond to the events of the last week, start with the big picture. The entire trans-Atlantic financial system is in a breakdown crisis, and the only way that London-led empire can survive is by pulling off what they euphemistically refer to as their “Great Reset,” which really means a fascist reorganization of their utterly bankrupt financial system into a supranational “digital currency” scam, and drastic deindustrialization and depopulation of the nations of the planet. The storming of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 was designed to usher in such a coup in the United States, and to lock it in place with Jacobin-style censorship of any and all opposition voices. This is not the first time that something like this has happened. In 1933, there was the Reichstag Fire: agents provocateurs created the incident; security-stripping facilitated it; and the intended effect occurred: Hitler’s putsch was consolidated. Similarly on September 11, 2001: London-run Saudi terrorists were deployed; security was strangely lacking; and the intended effect was put in place: the Patriot Act with two-decades of foreign wars and an implacable “surveillance state.” And now the Capitol, on Jan. 6, 2021: provocateurs led the charge; no security of any significance was on hand; and the intended effect has been set in motion: the Great Reset, with a pliable Joe Biden in the White House and all opposition in the process of being muzzled by the social media. With that in mind, there are three broad points to be emphasized to properly measure the current strategic battlefield and correlation of forces, and the needed course of action: What transpired on Jan. 6 was a classic “gang-countergang” operation, straight out of the handbook of Britain’s Tavistock Institute and Brig. Gen. Frank Kitson’s counter-insurgency manual. The debate over whether the professional provocateurs who led the assault on the Capitol were “Proud Boys,” “Antifa,” or one or both dressed up as the other, entirely misses the point. This was a classic “third force” operation, as Helga Zepp-LaRouche emphasized in her Jan. 9 Manhattan Project webcast, where the intelligence services deploy to deliberately trigger violence to achieve their intended shock effect. The rest are dupes, well-meaning or otherwise. Sane forces in the U.S. have powerful potential allies internationally to defeat this operation. China’s Belt and Road Initiative is a strong and growing alternative to the Great Reset, and its dynamic has already swept up the majority of the world’s population. Mark Zuckerberg may control Facebook. But China is building railroads and dams in Africa. Peru, which has one of the highest per-capita death rates from COVID-19 on the planet, had been told that it would only get a few vaccines from the WHO at the end of 2021, and not be able to purchase significant numbers of vaccines on the world market until 2022 or 2023. But last week China informed Peru that they would provide the country with 38 million vaccines, with the first million arriving this month. That will cover nearly 20 million of Peru’s 33 million people. Do you really think the nation of Peru is going to care more about Zuckerberg’s Facebook rules and Pompeo’s anti-Chinese rants, than vaccinating its population? There is a reality principle at work here, of the physical economy and the laws of the physical universe, that the British cannot evade. Furthermore, significant forces in other countries are aware of how the Capitol assault “narrative” is working, and the meaning of the brazen censorship being imposed by the Wall Street-run social media against all opposition. Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador described what Facebook is doing to President Donald Trump and others as “a new Holy Inquisition” designed “to create a world government.” Russian senior analyst Fyodor Lukyanov, the chairman of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy, wrote that “Target number one is Trump himself. They want to make an example out of him, so that others wouldn’t dare challenge the sanctity of the political establishment…. And the Capitol building debacle during the last days of his Presidency has created a perfect pretext for cleaning house.” 3. The British gameplan has an even more fundamental weakness and vulnerability. Their plan is that you will not say, nor be allowed to hear, anything other than the vetted material available on social media. You will receive no information, no entertainment, that is not of that approved character. You will be told, as Bertrand Russell famously put it, that snow is black. But there’s one thing that Russell and the British have overlooked. The effectiveness of this strategy depends on the nature of man being what they claim it is. Their informational dictatorship only works if knowledge is indeed premised on sense perception, if identity is defined by Bentham’s felicific calculus, by hedonism. But ask yourself: How would Helen Keller have responded to control of the social media? Would that have affected her conceptual powers, or her ability to understand how the world works? Would it have interfered with her capacity to “hear” and understand a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth? In the final analysis, it is this nature of man, and the implicit powers of man’s mind to discover universal physical principles and shape the world in his image, as the Creator shapes us in His—a power for the Good which Lyndon LaRouche spent a lifetime discovering, conveying and augmenting—that is our greatest weapon in times such as these. That is why 2021 is, again, the year of Beethoven.
March 6, 2025 (EIRNS)—The swirl of events continues at a dizzying speed, while bloodshed, poverty, and economic turmoil continue needlessly. For example, today the third emergency summit of the European Council took place in Brussels, on the subject of arming Ukraine against Russia, with leaders of 27 European Union nations present and at odds over funding and commitment to indefinite war-making. The major outcome was setting the time for the fourth such summit, March 20-21. Another example, today President Donald Trump signed an executive order putting a stay—for the second time—on 25% tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada, until April 2. And so on.
The pace of the information warfare against the American people, to prepare them for the acceptance of a genocidal war with Russia and China, has reached a fever pitch. Mark Levin’s Fox News program Saturday night featured former Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell and the Hudson Institute’s resident China basher Michael Pillsbury, while CNN featured the neocons’ favorite anti-Russia wacko Garry Kasparov. Both Grenell and Pillsbury, as well as host Levin, insisted that China is out to take over the world and “write the rules” for mankind. Grenell fantasized that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) “is a phony—more and more countries are recognizing that it is a fake.” In fact, nearly 150 countries have joined the BRI, intent on breaking out of poverty as China has done through infrastructure and industry, denied them under the IMF regime as “inappropriate for their stage of development.” Pillsbury added: “It is true that China lifted 600 million people out of poverty, but people understand that they are out to surpass us and create a world where they write the rules.” He called for an anti-China alliance like NATO. As for Kasparov, after retailing all the unsubstantiated charges against Putin and Russia, he declares that any “engagement” with Putin, or with Xi Jinping, is “appeasement by another name,” concluding: “Russia must be ejected from the international institutions it alternately exploits and ignores…. It must be made clear that there can be no normalization until Putin is gone. As President-elect Joe Biden gears up to enter the White House, he should make a strong statement that the United States is ready once again to lead the free world and will no longer tolerate Russia’s actions—unlike his predecessor.” This is a disease of the mind, a remnant of the British Empire’s geopolitics, to justify continued domination of the world economy by the City of London and Wall Street despite the fact that the entire trans-Atlantic financial empire is bankrupt, and despite the fact that the non-Asian world is suffering an uncontrolled pandemic, and a famine sweeping through Africa, which cry out for international cooperation. On Saturday, Helga Zepp-LaRouche, the founder and chairwoman of the Schiller Institute, in discussing the “Beethoven Year” celebrating the 250th anniversary of his birth, said: “Beethoven is really the most important medicine for all kinds of illnesses. First of all, he has the most powerful, creative, beautiful mind in music, for sure, you can imagine. … Also he was very anti-oligarchical.” She told the famous story of Beethoven refusing to bow to the royalty, adding: “I think that attitude of anti-oligarchism is also present in the music of Beethoven, and naturally it was the attitude of Schiller in everything he wrote. So I think it is very important that we, in difficult times like this, resort to those means which can make us better people, or help us to struggle to become better people, and to think aesthetically more beautifully, to elevate our thinking, to think in terms of flanks.” She proposed that the Beethoven Year should be extended, “until all people are lifted up to think on the level of Beethoven, whatever time that takes—hopefully not so long—but I think that that is the aim. Because we want to uplift the whole world to become truly human. And that is what Beethoven represents.” It is shocking, but not surprising, that the magazine of the University of Cambridge in the U.K., Varsity, published an article this week titled “Is It Time To Cancel Beethoven?” quoting one “feminist musicologist” Susan McClary describing the recapitulation in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony as “the throttling murderous rage of a rapist incapable of attaining release,” and suggesting that his music was somehow responsible for the Third Reich. The battle facing the human race today is unprecedented, perhaps only comparable to the 14th-15th century Hundred Years War and the Black Death. The team that took America into the endless wars under Bush and Obama may return to power in the New Year, barring President Donald Trump’s effort to expose the massive vote fraud in the presidential election. Trump recently fired the war party leaders at the Pentagon, but has tolerated the same war party within his cabinet, in the persons of Mike Pompeo, Christopher Wray, and others. His intense commitment to making the U.S. a friend of Russia and of China during the first years of his presidency is now more important than ever, and could be renewed, now, by inviting Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping to a summit, to address the current crisis of humanity. A new organization, called simply The LaRouche Organization, has been created over the Christmas week, to inspire people everywhere to be, as Freidrich Schiller said, both a patriot of one’s nation and a citizen of the world. Political freedom, Schiller said, is only achievable through beauty, through aesthetic education. In this year of Beethoven, let us fight for that true political freedom, for all mankind, as the urgent necessity for the New Year.
The comments from Moscow this morning took the high ground of principle, in responding to the U.S. late-Feb. 25 bombing of Abu Kamal in eastern Syria, which the U.S. described as a ‘proportional’ retaliation for terrorist hits on U.S. forces in Iraq last week, accusing them as having come from Iran-sponsored militia. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that the United States should, “Stop trying to settle scores through geopolitics.” Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that U.S. mil-to-mil authorities gave Russia advance notice of a bare few minutes before the strike. The U.S. action all around is in the crazed tradition of neo-con Michael Pompeo, as well as his replacement neo-lib Antony Blinken, and both are in the tradition of Mother Britain’s geopolitical gamesmanship of perpetual strife—constantly playing off each against the other. The opposite policy of mutual-interest development, as the means for peace is urgent to understand and initiate. The Southwest Asia region especially is bleeding. On March 1, World Food Program Director David Beasley will speak at an event titled “Silent Emergency,” hosted by Sweden and Switzerland, to raise funding for aid to Yemeni children. The suffering and permanent damage to a whole generation in the Arabian Peninsula must be stopped. The greater Southwest Asian region is urgently in need of the “Land-Bridge” policy approach put forward over decades by statesman-economist Lyndon LaRouche, with its programs of development corridors, the “Oasis Plan” for plentiful water, and other beautiful realistic visions. Already on the ground in Syria and Iraq there are precious potential initiatives. In Iran, for example, rail lines are going ahead, despite the pandemic and foreign relations crises. Further, the entire world is in need of the same development approach—as is embodied in China’s Belt and Road Initiative, given the impact of the pandemic and famine. In 2020, Schiller Institute President Helga Zepp-LaRouche convened a Committee of the Coincidence of Opposites—named after the concept of Nicholas of Cusa, for common interest action, especially for health and food security, and for mutual cultural respect and hope for youth and the future. Look at two basic aspects of the reality of the physical economic down-spiral, accelerating in the absence of deliberate pro-development collaboration and concrete action. Electricity. On Jan. 8, the entire European power grid came within minutes of blackout, saved only by rapid, selected shedding of power usage. On Feb. 15, the Texas-centered central North American grid did fail, giving Texans long outages, and also involving days of scheduled, rolling blackouts in at least 14 U.S. and 26 Mexican states. What happens next month? In Africa, half of the population of the continent has no electricity at all. Food. The Food and Agriculture Organization’s monthly reporting shows that basic staples have been rising in price—especially grain (wheat, rice, corn), for eight months straight, and grain supplies are heading into a “tight” condition—polite jargon for shortage. The world already had too little food for over 800 million people, and now 270 million at least are in a desperate state. Many factors are hitting at the same time, not surprising in a pandemic. For example, there is the potential impact of Winterkill from recent frigid weather in the U.S. Wheat Belt. Corn prices as of last month were over 40% higher than the price level in January the year earlier. Even in these fast-worsening times, collaboration and reason can save the day. Look at the very sane decision this week from French authorities to approve a 10-year extension on its national fleet of 32 nuclear power reactors, many of which were built in the 1980s for a 40-year service life, but are very safe to continue for the next decade. The obstacle and enemy in all this is the green onslaught, which asserts, through fake science, the fake narrative that human economic activity must be cut back to save the planet, and save “nature.” An ugly example is today’s international online conference hosted by the UN, “To Boost ‘Nature-Positive’” agriculture, which states that the environment comes first, eating comes second. This is part of the countdown to a September UN Summit on “New World Food Systems,” convened by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres last year, in the drive for the Great Reset. It is a must to read and circulate the EIR Special Report, “The Great Leap Backward: LaRouche Exposes the Green New Deal.” In the section, “A Disaster for the United States,” author Paul Gallagher begins with the key principle involved. He quotes Lyndon LaRouche saying, “Man, unlike the beasts, is able to change his population density by development.” So beware of the opposite. Gallagher writes, “The human species is, we must realize, also tragically able to decrease its population density by great masses of unnecessary deaths, either by war, or by intentionally reversing development, forcing into reverse the advance of mankind’s scientific and technological capability.” We can make all the difference in preventing this reversal. Spread the word on the second in the series of Schiller Institute Virtual Roundtable Forums taking place Saturday, Feb. 27 at 2 to 5 p.m. Eastern. It is titled, “Winter Storm Smashes Green New Deal Utopia—Great Power Cooperation Instead of War.”
July 5, 2024 (EIRNS)—Today, we will begin with a sort of spiritual exercise, as opposed to a mere chronicle, regarding world current history on the edge of thermonuclear war. We start with unexpected, disruptive, far-reaching changes going on in the world—and, implicitly, in the circumstances of life of everyone in it.
May 26—The tyranny of popular opinion, today, says that there is no “credible” threat to the human race posed by the rampant inaction of those governed, in the United States and Europe, by a bodyguard of lies, such as that told by the United States and Great Britain about the Nord Stream Pipeline terrorist action; that there is no threat posed by the Malthusian likes of the present occupants of the throne at Buckingham Palace, or the State Department amateur hour that dominates the Presidential process now in the current Washington, D.C. Administration. It is, however, the acceptance of the lie, that “snow is black”—“that the war in Ukraine was unprovoked by the illegal overthrow of the democratically elected government of Ukraine in February 2014, and its aftermath—that could soon doom the entire human race.” An interruption in the lies, by vigorously and publicly shouting the truth from the street corners, at county fairs, and in public places, is the work of true service in the cause of human freedom.
June 20—The extraordinary power of the Schiller Institute Conference of the past weekend was in the demonstration, in “flesh and blood,” that there is no distinction between the extreme danger of global nuclear war and the equally extreme danger of the now onrushing collapse of the dollar-based global financial system. It is difficult to measure which would kill more people, whether by slow, painful starvation, or by instantaneous incineration.
Feb. 7, 2025 (EIRNS)—“How does an individual citizen acquire the best intelligence service in the world?” How can, in the midst of distractions, intentional misrepresentation, and coercion, individual Americans acquire the knowledge they need to act in such a way as to ensure that this country, and the world survive?
Join Humanity for Peace November 26 at 11am EST/ 8am PST/ 5pm CET for an Emergency Forum and Exclusive showing of the Documentary 8:15 Hiroshima: From Father to Daughter
May 12—Even as this weekend the Pope meets with Zelenskyy, China conducts foreign policy on multiple fronts in Europe, and LaRouche forces put forth the message of a global Glass-Steagall as more and more banks collapse in the United States, it is important to keep in view the mission to which we are dedicated. “I think what is required is to really define a completely new paradigm in thinking, to start with the common interest of the one humanity, put the national interests in the context of that, and then find a way of overcoming these supposedly unbridgeable difficulties, because the Global South—that’s 85% of the human population—they want to end colonialism. They do not want anymore to be deprived of economic development. And because of the Belt and Road Initiative, which is now ten years in progress, many countries see for the first time the perspective of overcoming underdevelopment and poverty. Europe should join with China in that endeavor!”
As the clock ticks down for the June 16 scheduled summit between Presidents Biden and Putin, the British are gearing up their efforts to sabotage the summit, and more broadly to orchestrate a deadly strategic showdown between the U.S. on the one side, and China and Russia on the other.Neither the White House nor the Kremlin believe that any major breakthrough will occur at the summit—at best, each has stated for the record, an exchange of views will occur, and the lines of communication will remain open. But even that is far more than the British Empire can tolerate, and they are deployed accordingly—against both Russia and China. Even a cursory review of developments over the last 24 hours paints a clear picture: The drumbeat against Russia on the Belarusian detention of neo-Nazi Pratasevich is stepping up. The President of the EU Parliament David Sassoli has called for more sanctions against Russia, to help provoke regime-change. More Ukrainian terrorists have been arrested inside Russia, out to create chaos and topple Putin. British intelligence is taking the lead in the “Wuhan lab leak” concoction blaming China for the pandemic. And on and on. There are, of course, “realists” in the West who believe that the current confrontation course with China and Russia is both unnecessary and dangerously misguided. They occasionally are able to voice their views in the establishment media. But such “realism,” although laudable as a sentiment, will get exactly nowhere in preventing superpower confrontation and even warfare, unless it also takes on the actual cause of war: the collapsing trans-Atlantic economic and political system. As Lyndon LaRouche uniquely specified, the danger of war will persist until the City of London and Wall Street are put through bankruptcy reorganization, and a new international credit system is established to reverse the half-century decline in the planet’s Potential Relative Population Density through global infrastructure projects. The most pressing of these is the construction of a system of advanced health systems in every nation in the world, to turn the tide against the Covid-19 pandemic and to prepare for likely future viruses. As Schiller Institute President Helga Zepp-LaRouche stated in her latest weekly webcast: “So let’s hope that there will be a positive discussion about strategic issues [at the Biden-Putin summit], other important issues like the pandemic, the financial crisis, and not just climate change and the agenda of the City of London and Wall Street. “I think also important is the statement which was made by the spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, saying that nobody should hope that a positive meeting between the United States and Russia would somehow break the relationship between Russia and China. “So I think there is a potential that this summit could be a first step in the right direction and hopefully, the other proposal by President Putin to go for a UN Security Council five permanent member summit that would follow and address then the really urgent global issues. But it’s a building process, so I think the more people are discussing solutions the better, so let’s hope it works in a positive direction.”
Dec. 9, 2024 (EIRNS)—The dramatic turn of events in recent days in Syria is not an expression of dynamics internal to that besieged nation, but the result of external pressures, interventions and violations. These are perpetrated by Western circles in the Global Showdown they are waging, principally against Russia and China, but against the entire Global Majority. Their aim? Just to stay “on top”—even of the ash heap.
This question, “Can War with Russia Still Be Averted?” is the title of the Schiller Institute’s International Dialogue Saturday, January 22 at 2 pm (ET) for the purpose of strengthening the forces to stop the dangerous brinkmanship of the U.S., the British Empire and NATO against Russia and China, and make way for a complete shift toward a world security system based on the principle of the mutual benefit of all, most assuredly, the economic benefit of all.The results of today’s important meeting in Geneva between U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, do not change this focus, only heighten it. The meeting ran for 90 minutes, with remarks before and after by the officials. There is expected follow-on to the talks—with a rough time frame of the next week to 10 days; but at any time, expect sabotage from enemies of this process of engagement. In brief, Blinken, who said that President Biden had asked him to meet with Lavrov, said that after today’s talks, he will go back and consult with NATO, and allies, plus Congress, and “we will be able to share with Russia our concerns and ideas in more detail and in writing next week, and we agreed to further discussions after that.” TASS reported that Blinken said that the U.S. and Russia will meet again, after Moscow scrutinizes Washington’s security proposals next week. However the Foreign Ministry threw cold water on that report, saying there are no plans for a meeting, until Russia receives an “article-by-article” reply to its demand for security guarantees. Otherwise, Blinken stuck to the assertions in his litany of accusations and demands, admonishing Russia to de-escalate its force placement, not invade Ukraine, etc. Lavrov said of Blinken’s remark that the U.S. will respond in writing to Russia’s “concerns,” that, “I believe it would be right to make this reply public and I will ask Antony Blinken, so that they do not object.” He said there was no arrangement for another meeting between himself and Blinken. Among many other points, Lavrov said that the U.S. repeats its charges against Russia “like a mantra” and pointed to Western “hysterics” when it came to Ukraine. Especially noteworthy was the inclusion of China in what is at stake. The Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement at the time of the talks which said, “It is high time that our American colleagues understand that Washington’s dual containment policy towards Moscow and Beijing is completely outdated and offers no good prospects for the U.S. The Americans would do more good for themselves and the entire world if they abandoned their arrogant claim for global dominance and engaged in an equal and honest dialogue with Russia, China and other major players in order to search for balanced solutions to pressing global security and development issues.” Ominously, hostile initiatives have been conducted against Russia all during the period of today’s Geneva talks. Yesterday, Blinken’s State Department and the U.S. Treasury issued sanctions against four individuals in Ukraine, on charges that they are instruments of the Russian FSB. Two of them are members of Parliament, and of the opposition party to the Zelenskyy government, and one of them a media company operator. Thus, once again, the U.S. warhawks—while singing of democracy, are interfering blatantly in another nation’s internal politics. More military personnel and armament are flowing into Ukraine from individual NATO countries. In the U.S., the hype over Russian “aggression” is at fever pitch, and even more shrill because it is bipartisan. A call for “pre-emptive sanctions” on Russia by the U.S.—before Russia has a chance to aggress!—was made this week by Republican Sen. Joni Ernst (IA), appearing as a CNN guest of rabidly Democrat Anderson Cooper. On the eve of today’s Geneva meeting, the State Department posted three fact-sheet type write-ups to defame Russia, that qualify the agency as akin to the Ministry of Truth, in George Orwell’s 1984, which was noted by Maria Zakharova, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman. Just consider the names of one of the documents, “Russia’s Top Five Persistent Disinformation Narratives.” One of the narratives that the U.S. finds Russia guilty of, is to say Western culture is decaying. The State Department reports that Foreign Minister Lavrov has even accused U.S. schools of teaching that Jesus Christ was bisexual. This is madness gone wild, and very dangerous. Schiller Institute President Helga Zepp-LaRouche said in her weekly strategic webcast on Jan. 20 that, “I think the danger of war is what people should be concerned with.” But she further stated that the concern should be “from the standpoint of the dynamic [whose] directionality goes very clearly in the direction of the Belt and Road cooperation, because many nations see it much more to their advantage to economically cooperate, rather than have geopolitical games.” In this way, the BRI alliances and projects are anti-war policies. Look at the urgency of action to support Afghanistan in that way, as part of a greater development zone from Central and South Asia, westward across the war-torn Southwest Asia, into the Horn of Africa. Just this week, on Jan. 19, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was in Moscow for discussions. China and Iran are implementing their 25-year cooperation agreement. In Pakistan, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is proceeding. In the war-devastated Horn of Africa, China has recently committed to the “Initiative of Peaceful Development,” involving rail, port, power and other infrastructure programs. Add to this the thrust of “Operation Ibn Sina” in this region, and elsewhere internationally—the drive for a health care platform with full economic support, called for by Zepp-LaRouche—and the end of war is a given. However, in complete opposition to all of this, came the mass-murder bombing today in Yemen—the heart of this extended region, by Saudi Arabian-led forces. The wave of bombings has killed at least 200 people, and injured many more, including a strike on a prison in Sadaa, north of Sana’a, where the death toll is 150 so far. This amounts to a “shock and awe” crime, timed exactly with today’s Geneva U.S.-Russia meeting. The Yemen mission director for Doctors Without Borders Ahmed Mahat called the prison strike a “horrific act of violence.” Moreover, the main communications tower in Sana’a was deliberately bombed, knocking out all internet service, whose import could mean that, without communications, the Saudis will perpetrate more heinous crimes. Fouad Al Ghaffari, the leader of the ALBRICS Youth Parliament in Sana’a, sent a message by text to the Schiller Institute this morning, “We condemn the terrific aggressive murder attack on Sada’a Prison, and destroying the internet connection in Yemen that violates the right to information and may hide a massive attack at any moment!” Attend the Jan. 22 International Dialogue conference, “Can War with Russia Still Be Averted?” and activate with the Schiller Institute.
Oct. 25—Think back to early October of this year—scarcely four weeks ago. The Ukraine war was grinding on seemingly interminably, with London and Washington resorting to increasingly provocative Ukrainian attacks on Russia using advanced Western weapons, in light of Ukraine’s “counter-offensive” fiasco. The BRICS summit had been held in South Africa in late August, and had set in motion the seed crystal of an entirely new security and development architecture for the planet. In mid-September the Eastern Economic Forum was held in Vladivostok, Russia, where extensive economic cooperation projects solidified that drive for a new economic system.
Aug. 19—We must first start from what Dr. Martin Luther King referred to, alternately, as “the arc of the moral universe” and “the mountain-top,” to report the true progress of humanity’s “city-builders,” astronomers, and statesmen, in defiance of the merchants of Perfidious Albion, “Global NATO,” and “The dictatorship of democracies.”
March 1 (EIRNS)—In the atmosphere of a “Captain Ahab-like” increasingly unhinged recklessness being expressed by several trans-Atlantic governments, and their reluctant but captured “allies,” all now driving the world, wittingly or not, to thermonuclear war, it is essential not to divert from the policy proposal: “Convoke an International Conference to Establish A New Security and Development Architecture for All Nations” authored by Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp LaRouche. That way lies a restoration of sanity. The problem we are facing is the addiction to the dying, imperial monetarist world order that the City of London and Wall Street still insist must be saved. That axiomatic, unachievable obsession is the actual underlying impulse for war, for which the surface conflict called “the Ukraine crisis” is but today’s most momentarily prominent symptom. Notice how no one is now talking about the unfolding deliberate deaths of hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions in Afghanistan—far more people than are in danger of death in Ukraine. There is no uniformity, no standing together with the “forces of democracy” to save those people’s lives. Insight into the “Bertrand Russell” mind-set in play in the drunken judgmental processes of the “Hooray For Doomsday” crowd is provided by considering the evaluation offered Monday by General Sir Richard Barrons, ex-head of the British Joint Forces Command. He stated (despite what had been said by White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki—see slug) that Ukraine’s “no-fly zone” request might be granted by NATO, leading to a war with Russia by the end of the week: “A no-fly zone is feasible. So, it’s Monday night. By Wednesday, Russian heavy artillery will be around these Ukrainian cities. And they may be firing indiscriminately, and destroying large chunks of the city, and killing civilians, and when they do this, they will be 300 miles from the border with NATO and the European Union, a day’s drive, or half an hour in a military jet. So I think one of the issues, for about Thursday or Friday of this week, is, how does public opinion in the UK and other countries react, to seeing people who look and live like us being slaughtered. And at that stage, I think there will be a different conversation, led by public opinion, about the application of NATO military power—perhaps through the sky, and definitely against heavy weapons.” In another example of manic, potentially-fatal hubris, French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire was caused to quickly withdraw recklessly arrogant statements he made in an interview concerning the use of sanctions against Russia. "I do not want to leave any ambiguity about the European determination on this issue. We are going to wage an all-out financial and economic war against Russia. Q: "Against Russia or against Vladimir Putin? BLM: “Against Russia, against Vladimir Putin, against his government. But the Russian people will also pay the consequences. Let’s be clear. We want to target the heart of the Russian system, we target Vladimir Putin, we target the oligarchs, but we also target the entire Russian economy.” Le Maire was answered with a stern response from former Russian President and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, now deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, and withdrew the statement. But as American analyst Scott Ritter recently stated, “President Putin has often complained that the West does not listen to him when he speaks of issues Russia deems to be of critical importance to its national security…The question is, is [the West] capable of comprehending the seriousness of the situation? So far, the answer seems to be no.” This present path, no matter the wishful thinking otherwise, must surely lead, sooner or later, to total war. Another road must be taken. “The fault behind the onrushing doom of the world’s present financial system, lies not with individual policy decisions, but in an ultimately fatal pattern of policy shaping innovations…. That point should be repeated. The fault lies not in any particular decision, as such; the fault lies in the social and ideological characteristics of today’s ‘Atlantic establishment,’ just as the collapse of the Soviet system flowed from the ideological and related characteristics of its establishment. The fault lies in the habituated, ideologically charged pattern of changes of decision, and ordering of changes which shape the ‘planetary orbit’ of the net affects so produced. We say, therefore, that the fatal trajectory of events is, like a planet’s orbit, essentially systemic, not the result of several isolable policy decisions on direction made along the way…. “The rabbit who is killed by the automobile, had the physical ability to avoid that risk: it was the characteristic of the rabbit’s nature, to choose the new decision which then doomed it to serve the pleasure of the waiting crows.” Lyndon LaRouche wrote that in his November,1988 preface to the book Genocide: Russia and the New World Order, written by economist Sergei Glaziev. Glaziev, for decades a prominent minister in government in Russia, wrote on Feb. 25 that “sanctions are the agony of the outgoing imperial world economic system based on the use of force. In order to minimize the dangers associated with it, it is necessary to accelerate the formation of a new—integral—world economic order which restores international law, national sovereignty, equality of countries, diversity of national economic models, principles of mutual benefit and voluntariness in international economic cooperation.” For such a design to occur, the worst of enemies will have to decide that the choice is neither “my way, or no way,” nor even the more civilized “nonviolence or nonexistence.” The choice is between the destruction of all mankind, or the development of all mankind. Economic development is the only pathway to peace, and the LaRouche Four Laws, discussed at the conclusion of the Zepp-LaRouche proposal, are the standpoint from which the International Conference to Establish A New Security and Development Architecture for All Nations can succeed.
May 24, 2024 (EIRNS)—Is the arc of the moral universe bending, with ever-greater curvature, toward justice? Yesterday, the United Nations International Court of Justice (ICJ) at The Hague ordered the State of Israel to cease its war-crime violations of international law being perpetrated by its military assault in Gaza, now known to be responsible for the deaths of over 35,000 people, and possibly thousands more among the 10,000 still declared missing. (There have been about another 1,000 killed in the West Bank as well since Oct 7.)
Jan. 14—Within less than 24 hours of the World Court presentation by South Africa of the case of Israel committing genocide in Gaza, the U.S.A. and U.K. bombed Yemen, which airstrike was repeated by the United States again the next night. U.S. Ambassador to the UN Linda Greenfield-Thomas defended their attacks, telling the UN Security Council yesterday, that the airstrikes “were consistent with international law and in exercise of the UN’s inherent right to self-defense, as reflected by Article 51 of the UN Charter.”
