March 6, 2025 (EIRNS)—The swirl of events continues at a dizzying speed, while bloodshed, poverty, and economic turmoil continue needlessly. For example, today the third emergency summit of the European Council took place in Brussels, on the subject of arming Ukraine against Russia, with leaders of 27 European Union nations present and at odds over funding and commitment to indefinite war-making. The major outcome was setting the time for the fourth such summit, March 20-21. Another example, today President Donald Trump signed an executive order putting a stay—for the second time—on 25% tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada, until April 2. And so on.
Helga Zepp-LaRouche, Schiller Institute founder and leader, advised at midweek that we must look at the “totality” of the many occurrences taking place. It is from this higher vantage point, rather than taking stands pros and cons on swarms of contentious issues, that we can understand what is happening in a way to intervene toward bringing about the new paradigm required. We need a new economic and security architecture to benefit all, as previewed in the mutual benefit activity underway among leading nations of the Global Majority.
Zepp-LaRouche pointed out three currently outstanding features of the totality of world dynamics. Look at the two insane responses to the crackup of the Western casino-based financial/free trade system: First, the “BlackRock Syndrome,” of increasing globalist control over all economic sectors—industry, agriculture, military production, and all else, especially logistics, as seen in the BlackRock’s latest buy-out of controlling interest in more than 40 top ports around the world. The march of BlackRock is the terminal phase of an attempted takeover by the City of London and Wall Street of what’s left of Western and other economies.
Secondly, there is the bums’ rush into crypto, centered in the U.S., which is not only a funny-money scam, but is subverting the value and sovereignty of the U.S. currency itself.
Thirdly, look at the militarization madness in Europe. Today, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen beat the drum for her $862 billion rearmament plan, with wild talk of how nations across Europe can and must come up with these funds, and loony visions of how they can convert what remains of their productive capacities to arms production. Their economies be damned. A flurry of follow-on meetings is set, beginning with European Parliament members meeting on March 11 to assess today’s summit, and to confer on a white paper on the future of European defense, to be released in mid-March; the MEP vote on this is set for March 12.
Yes, indeed, it is in order to be anti-BlackRock, anti-crypto, and anti-militarization madness, but that isn’t enough. The direction toward a solution of peace and economic progress is to understand the physical economic principles of economy-building and peace-building, and to intervene to bring it about. The Schiller Institute released a report internationally on this perspective at the end of 2024: “Development Drive Means Billions of New Jobs, No Refugees, No War.”
Currently, the mobilization for the “Oasis Plan” is the leading fight for world development, centered on Gaza, but extending from Northern Africa through to western India.
Over the Memorial Day weekend in May, the Schiller Institute international conference in the New York metropolitan area will take up the needed discussion of principles of nation-building and the culture of beauty and productivity. Registration is open for the May 24-25 event, titled, “A Beautiful Vision for Humanity in Times of Great Turbulence!”
Major opportunities are open for potential positive breakthroughs, given the seismic shifts underway in global dynamics, especially the crack-up in the evil British-U.S. “Special Relationship.”
There are several breaking events of note. Among them, is that the CIA has not only suspended providing Ukraine with targeting and other military intelligence, but has also ordered the U.K. to suspend any British sharing of U.S. intelligence with Ukraine.
On motion toward talks over Ukraine, late reports are that delegations from Washington and Kiev will meet March 11 in Saudi Arabia. On the opposite side, that of dangerous motion against a resolution of the Ukraine crisis, French President Emmanuel Macron gave a national address last night, aimed at escalating conflicts, by bloviating on how there should be a discussion of France extending a nuclear shield over Europe to protect against Russia. Today, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov recommended that Macron consider the lessons of Napoleon and Hitler.
Register and spread the word for the May 24-25 Schiller Institute conference. Study the conference invitation, which states at one point, “If President Trump succeeds in not only ending the Ukraine war, but also permanently banning the species-threatening use of nuclear weapons, through a process of cooperation and dialogue with Russia and China, he will deserve a place on Mount Rushmore. This would mean nothing less than replacing the practice of geopolitical confrontation against the BRICS states and the Global South with cooperation for the mutual benefit at all.”
