Nov. 6, 2024 (EIRNS)—HELGA ZEPP-LAROUCHE: Well, I think it’s definitely a moment of a break in a very tense strategic situation. Trump has promised to stop wars. Now, obviously, we have to see if the words are followed by deeds, but also events—the Vice President said something similar. So, I would take the attitude, he’s a newly elected President, and let’s see if he follows through with his promises.

However, whatever the result turns out to be, neither candidate’s victory could in itself bring about the decisive changes needed to address the fundamental crises facing the U.S. and the world. Now, more than ever, the main factor which will determine future events will be the role played by a committed minority in bringing to fruition a new dynamic within the bankrupt and imperialistic Western world—a potential which is increasingly obvious to those with eyes to see, though not reflected in the presidential campaigns.
Given the corruption of most governments, what must we do to assure the survival of a human race worthy of the name, i.e., to act in defense of humanity?
