Aug. 20, 2024 (EIRNS)—Washington attempted to placate Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last week, assuring him that his avowed concern over the smuggling of weapons through tunnels from Egypt into Gaza did not mean that Israeli troops had to be exempted from an agreed-upon withdrawal and ceasefire, and had to stay on duty on the Gaza border. Rather, the U.S. would offer to patrol the border, along with Egypt. Never mind that Netanyahu was, yet again, putting up one more barrier to any agreement to return the hostages and begin a ceasefire—a barrier to be replaced by another, if circumstances dictated.
Aug. 19, 2024 (EIRNS)—The wheels are coming off the wagon of deception that is Global NATO’s failing “World War Three for Democracy” roadshow. With the Ukraine adventure having failed, in its intention to provoke the disintegration of Russia; with the failure of the very real and very purposeful assassination of Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump; with the now-unfolding failure of the Chicago “Democratic” Convention, which is selecting a candidate, Kamala Harris, who not only did not win a single delegate in 2024, but also did not win a single delegate in her 2020 Presidential race either; with the new multiple cover-stories, each more embarrassing than the next, appearing in various publications in Europe and the U.S. regarding the revisited Nord Stream 2 terrorist action all contradicting one other, but all clearly implicating “Ukraine” and “Zaluzhnyi/Zelenskyy”—wouldn’t you think that the “Grand Design” geniuses at the helm of this cluster-flop would wise up, and change direction?

Aug. 17, 2024 (EIRNS)—Friday’s meeting of the International Peace Coalition featured an appearance by former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter, who joined Helga Zepp-LaRouche and others to address the increasingly brazen crackdown on dissenting opinion in the United States. Ritter’s house was raided Aug. 7 by the FBI and law enforcement officials, whereupon over two dozen of his documents and other property were seized. Ritter wrote of the event: “The FBI agents did more than seize my personal electronics when they searched my home on Aug. 7. They stole the truth.”
Aug. 16, 2024 (EIRNS)—There is an escalation underway in the dynamic toward nuclear war. At the same time, there is an escalation—in a “pre-war” mode—of attacks on persons, agencies and nations who oppose the war paradigm, and insist on seeking and making known the truth. Aug. 12, 2024 (EIRNS)—Last night, a fire broke out at a cooling tower at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant in Russia. It had been hit by Ukrainian drones, this time causing more damage than any of the many attacks upon the plant over the last two and a half years. Not properly appreciated is that Russia has deprived itself of the energy from the plant for most of its time there, as the Ukrainian shelling doesn’t allow for the safe management of active nuclear reactors. The six reactors have been in a “cold” state for quite a while.

Aug. 11, 2024 (EIRNS)—We again draw our readers’ attention to the urgent warning voiced by Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov on Aug. 4 in an interview with Rossiya-1 TV: “The problem is that there are no circuit breakers anymore…. Strikes on the territory of Russia are allowed. The Americans’ assurances that no such decisions have been made and no indulgences were granted to Kiev, are worthless.”
