Feb. 17, 2025 (EIRNS)—The future may not be determined, but it is definitive that we are at the end of the post-Cold War, so-called “rules-based order.” In the forefront of many manifestations, including the tears of the outgoing chairman of the Munich Security Council yesterday, is the meeting Tuesday, Feb. 18, in Riyadh of the U.S. Secretary of State and Russian Foreign Minister to re-establish regular relations between these powers and to confer on ending the warfare in Ukraine.

Jan. 13, 2025 (EIRNS)—In today’s era of nuclear weapons, the hot zones of confrontation—in Ukraine, in Southwest Asia—constitute an unprecedented danger for all humankind. Yet at the same time, this is “an historic opportunity to intervene” to shape events that can lead a course out of the danger, into an unprecedented era of development. This was the evaluation reiterated today by Schiller Institute founder and leader Helga Zepp-LaRouche, who elaborated on the reasons favorable to success, if we intervene. She referred to the fact that the old system of geopolitics and monetarism is dying, and the persisting attempts of the U.S., U.K. and Collective West to impose their will to try to continue unilateral domination will fail.

Nov. 29, 2024 (EIRNS)—The White House on Nov. 28 issued a statement in the name of President Joe Biden denouncing Russia’s “horrific” attacks on Ukraine earlier that day, using terms of self-righteous insanity. Biden pledged to continue “prioritizing air defense exports” to Ukraine, from the U.S.. The sense of the message is that Russia has no reason but “aggression” for their actions.

Oct. 11, 2024 (EIRNS)—We’re at the point of decision in two realms of terrible, and needless, conflict: Ukraine and Southwest Asia. Will it be diplomacy, or the short road to World War III?

Aug. 27, 2024 (EIRNS)—Ukraine government officials are in Washington, D.C. and Brussels this week, demanding the OK for unrestricted use of U.S. and Western weapons inside Russia—the stamp-of-approval on a NATO invasion. This is a direct, blatant challenge to the 2020 Russian stated doctrine: Russia will use nuclear weapons, only “when the very existence of the state is under threat.” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov today held a press conference in Moscow, drawing out the implications of this exact point.

Aug. 16, 2024 (EIRNS)—There is an escalation underway in the dynamic toward nuclear war. At the same time, there is an escalation—in a “pre-war” mode—of attacks on persons, agencies and nations who oppose the war paradigm, and insist on seeking and making known the truth. These were the opening points presented by Schiller Institute leader Helga Zepp-LaRouche at today’s 63rd weekly meeting of the International Peace Coalition, and also taken up in the remarks by Scott Ritter, former Marine and UN weapons inspector. He said, speaking of defending a free press, that there is a “Duty to prevent any part of the government from deceiving the people.”

July 3, 2024 (EIRNS)—This year the U.S. holiday of the Fourth of July, the commemoration of the 1776 Declaration of Independence, is the occasion calling for a renewed fight against empire. Global NATO is pushing ahead with warfare and conflict, with no let-up, rejecting all proposals for peace talks over Ukraine, Gaza, and other spheres. The end point of this evil will be nuclear annihilation, unless stopped.

May 30, 2024 (EIRNS)—The multiple hits from Ukraine—supported by Western logistics—into Russia in recent days, targeting its nuclear anti-missile radar infrastructure, have escalated the world to an extreme point of danger of nuclear war. These drone attacks, targeted at points in Krasnodar Krai and Orenburg, cross the red line on what Russia considers an existential threat, which was spelled out definitively in writing in 2020 by the government of Russia, exactly for the purposes of preventing such violations, and preventing world war (“Basic Principles of State Policy of the Russian Federation on Nuclear Deterrence,” June 2, 2020).

April 20—Strong reactions of disdain for the United States are coming forth internationally for the shameful sole vote the U.S. cast at the UN Security Council April 18, against the resolution for the State of Palestine to join the UN as a member nation, backed by 12 of the 15 Security Council members (with the U.K. and Switzerland abstaining). This was a special ministerial session, and leaders of over 40 nations from around the world came in person to speak, most all of whom gave perspectives on how moving on Palestinian statehood will contribute to the conditions for ending the carnage in Gaza, open the way for development, and finally provide security in the region. Already, 140 nations are on record for recognizing Palestinian.

But Washington said, No.

April 11—The headline of today’s daily EIR.News is the title of the opening panel of the international online conference Saturday, April 13, sponsored by the Schiller Institute. The second, and concluding panel of the day is titled, “The Oasis Plan: The Physical Foundation for the Development of Southwest Asia.”

March 30—This week saw a new extreme of lethal hypocrisy by the United States, unchallenged still by its NATO allies, but clear for all to see, with horror. While U.S. government leaders have spoken out for years demanding the world respect “the rules-based order,” even “the rule of law,” the same leaders this week said this does not apply to any rules Washington chooses to ignore. U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said mid-week that the UN Security Council Resolution passed March 25, is “non-binding,” in its text calling for the Israeli attacks on Gaza to stop, and mass humanitarian aid to begin. The U.S. will continue its military support to Israel, even if the Congress itself has not authorized more funding.

March 5—At the UN General Assembly plenary session March 4, the United States was singled out for condemnation, alongside Israel, for furthering mass death in Gaza. The Assembly was called into informal session to review the “use of veto,” as seen in the UN Security Council in recent months. The focus of attention and opprobrium was the United States’ veto on Feb. 20, of a ceasefire resolution for Gaza, which was the third such veto by the U.S. In introducing the session, UN General Assembly President Ambassador Dennis Francis of Trinidad and Tobago rightly described the situation in Gaza as “catastrophic, unconscionable, shameful.”

March 1—RT and Sputnik today released a dynamite, leaked recording and transcript of a Feb. 19 exchange among four top German military officials discussing long-range missile operations in Ukraine, and potential attacks on Russian arms depots and the Kerch Strait Bridge connecting Crimea to the Russian mainland as of 2018. The conversation makes clear that the United States, the U.K. and France all have military personnel in Ukraine now, carrying out functions. The discussants confer in detail on options for how the Bundeswehr might carry out tasks related to missiles and training, without appearing to do so.

Dec. 18—The toll of death and misery rises by the hour in Gaza, with the latest official count of 19,500 dead, dozens of thousands wounded, and over two million suffering.

Oct. 28—There are three dramatic updates this weekend: The escalation of attacks on Gaza to new depths of horror; the world upsurge of millions of people in protest against allowing this horror to continue; and the Western battle forces massing in Southwest Asia, which constitute war preparation, not “deterrence.”

Oct. 9—There are two reactions internationally to the terrible events of last weekend in Israel/Gaza, now worsening by the minute. There are those trying to exploit it out of geopolitical, evil intent, and there are those calling for ceasefire, calm, and for addressing and solving the factors that led to such a horror. Out of respect for the terrible personal anguish immediately involved, there is no other vantage point from which to view the crisis, except from the highest level, in order to take action to end it.

Oct. 7—The above headline is the message already going into the U.S. Congress from activated Americans, and about to be amplified many times over in the coming hours. It is also the focus of international activity in the works for this week, from capital cities and other locations worldwide, led by networks associated with the International Peace Coalition.

Sept. 23—There is no let-up of the danger of nuclear annihilation—there is even a worsening threat—from either an accidental or deliberate triggering of warfare into nuclear exchange. As of this weekend, there is a renewed barrage of projectiles from Ukraine targeting Sevastopol, the Crimean headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, the second barrage in two days. Whatever the military facts of the matter, the escalation danger is to be seen in the way the trans-Atlantic media establishment is portraying this maneuver: “See, Ukraine’s cunning attack shows that Russia cannot defend itself. Russia is on the way down and out.”

Aug. 28—We are in the period in which the direction of history will be decided. Following the breakthroughs of last week—the BRICS expansion, NDB promise for development credit, India’s Moon landing—the world has before it an historic choice.

June 26—Look at the world situation. On one side, there are the Global NATO leaders and forces pushing confrontation in every way, to bring down—end—Russia. On the other side, you have the government of Russia—a nuclear power, making clear that, “we will not be extinguished.” The stakes are nuclear annihilation.

Our "leaders" have brought us to the brink of World War III. Perhaps the only thing that would reverse this disastrous course and launch an actual peace process would be to put the rotten Anglo-American financial system through bankruptcy and implement LaRouche's Four Laws for immediate economic recovery. March 2—The world war machine bloc of nations, aka Global NATO, presented itself in certain special ways this week, but all part of the same NATO dynamic of promoting war and perpetrating genocide. At the same time, the forces gathering momentum against this—as seen in the past two weeks of mass demonstrations in the Trans-Atlantic—have the mighty strength to defeat the evil, because of the commitment to truth, and love for humanity. The stakes include preventing a nuclear holocaust.

Nov. 21—COP27 concluded Nov. 20 as FLOP27. Formally, the release of its joint statement may have saved some pretense of continuation of the 30-year-long dirty operation (started at the UN Rio Earth Summit in 1992), but that’s all it is. The air is hissing out of the green balloon.

May 2—The world is divided into two groups, but not the usual right and left, nor democracy versus autocracy, nor other fairy tales. The division is, on one side we have Global NATO, which is bringing us to the point of nuclear annihilation, and/or mass famine. On the opposing side, we have those countries and peoples wishing to continue life, and advance. Apart from these sides, there is a large contingent in the dark—they know nothing of what is really going on, thanks to the deliberate media blackout. And millions of poor souls are struggling to survive.

April 18—It is bad enough that the West ignored Russia’s red line against NATO expansion to its borders; but next to no one in the ranks of nominal leadership is honest and moral enough to acknowledge this mistake, and start acting responsibly. Now we have more red lines being crossed. In this dangerous and ugly situation, those singular individuals who do have the character to recognize the red lines, see the big picture, and stand up for a new paradigm, count immeasurably in history.
