In a statement which showed a potential for positive change, yet also reflected the danger of the current situation, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard spoke about her recent trip to Hiroshima, the site of the first nuclear weapon attack, where she learned about the horror inflicted on civilians and the immense power of today’s nuclear weapons compared to the ones used in Japan.
“As we stand here today,” she said, “closer to the brink of nuclear annihilation than ever before, political elite and warmongers are carelessly fomenting fear and tensions between nuclear powers.”
“We must reject that path to nuclear war, and work toward a world where no one has to live in fear of a nuclear holocaust.”
The recognition of a leading U.S. government figure of the horror unleashed on Hiroshima, an attack which was not only militarily unnecessary but also barbaric in its nature, is important. There is also a clear fight within the Trump Administration between neocons allied to the British outlook of geopolitical warfare for the purpose of maintaining control over nations, and the more rational, peace-oriented advisors who are defending Trump’s position on Russia, and urging against any preemptive attack on Iran.
The June 1st attack by Ukrainian forces on Russian airfields could’ve brought us to the point of no return, yet Trump claimed that he wasn’t informed of the attack beforehand. It’s up to us, as Gabbard said in her video statement, to speak up and demand an end to the madness, by informing the citizenry of the war danger and the British madness behind it.
Meanwhile, while tensions continue between the United States and Iran, Russia has intervened and offered to handle Iran’s nuclear materials, while Trump insists on his policy of zero uranium enrichment. Russia and Iran have also signed an agreement for Russia to construct eight nuclear power plants in Iran.
The alternative to the British Empire’s imperial lunacy and determination to pit the United States in a global conflict with Russia, China, and Iran, is based on a policy of cooperation between the United States and Europe with the BRICS+ nations, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Eurasian Economic Union, and other multilateral organizations, in pursuit of economic development and world-wide projects which can end poverty, disease, and other challenges.
Joining us today to discuss recent strategic developments and the solutions will be Mike Billington, long-time LaRouche associate, former political prisoner, and EIR writer.
