U.S. soldier Aaron Bushnell’s ultimate sacrifice has provoked a crisis of conscience, particularly among youth, regarding the policy of the United States in allowing 30,000 people in Gaza, nearly all of them civilians and half of them children, to die needlessly in war.

Feb. 28—Tuesday’s unexpected, stunning message to both the Democratic and Republican Parties, in the form of the 101,000 “uncommitted” votes in the Michigan Democratic primary cast against the United States’ immoral policy of supporting Benjamin Netanyahu’s mass murder in Gaza, exceeded the stated objectives of its “Listen to Michigan” organizers by one order of magnitude.

Instead of denouncing Macron's call for NATO troop deployment to Ukraine, the EU Parliament cheered Navalny's widow's call for all-out war against Russia.

Feb. 27—Russia, with all of its problems, did not crumble under Western sanctions. It turns out that a lot of what they could get from the West had little to do with survival, and they were thrown back to the necessity of concentrating on producing more of what they actually needed. The country did not break apart over the mobilization to free the Donbass from Kiev’s eight years of artillery shelling and political deprivations. It turns out there really are a lot of native Russians and Russian-speakers in Crimea and the Donbass, whom other Russians identify with. (It wasn’t as if they were being conscripted to fight an imperialist war.) And the supposed “isolation” of Russia has done more to isolate the West from the Global Majority of the world than leaving Russia punished in the corner.

Feb. 25—The world is more and more disgusted by the establishment elites promoting the “rules-based order,” while those elites themselves seem either delusionally optimistic about their chances, or are simply indifferent to the rest of the world. It is as though people and nations are coming to inhabit two separate, parallel universes. One universe—that of Anglo-American NATO—centers on conflicts, on an endless list of enemies to overcome, on ongoing war, on supremacy through hindering the growth of others, on fear of others. The second universe—exemplified by the BRICS-Plus process—envisions a new paradigm of international affairs, where win-win cooperation is possible, where human development is more important than hegemonism, where bloc conflict becomes a thing of the past.

Feb. 24—The world is rapidly approaching multiple points of crisis, all of which require a transformation in orientation and axioms. In the case of NATO’s escalations against Russia, epitomized by the hysteria over supposed Russian nuclear weapons being deployed to space, a further wedge is being driven between any future relationship between Russia and the West. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov ridiculed the hype around the outer space weapons as “absurd,” and said that it is becoming impossible to communicate with the U.S. about almost anything, given the U.S.’s flagrant lies.

Feb. 23—The beginning of the coming week is the deadline for Israel to comply with the Jan. 26 directive of the World Court (UN International Court of Justice) whose sixth and last point of its instruction was that Israel had a month, making it Feb. 26, by which time, to report back on its improvement in the five areas of relieving the conditions of Palestinians in Gaza, and stopping the IDF assault. It will be no surprise if Israel formally snubs the Court, by refusing to provide a report. The world has watched in horror as Israel has intensified every one of its attacks in Gaza—from shelling, to food cut-off, water cut-off, medical cut-off—whose overall status the Court deemed a month ago was “plausible” as genocide.

Feb. 22—The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has already warned that Israel is in grave danger of committing a genocide in Gaza—and that was before the threatened invasion of Rafah, the only remaining safe zone for Gaza’s refugees. The leaders of 18 humanitarian aid organizations have now issued a statement warning of “mass casualties” if Israel proceeds with its ground invasion. This reality is increasingly clear to the world, yet this still has not stopped Israel and its supporters from moving ahead.

The 17th century Massachusetts Bay Colony was created as the first true Republic in the New World. Just as now, the fight then was the right to create a nation free from colonial tyranny through sovereign credit, internal improvements, and scientific progress.
