Leading Developments

April 9—The recent dark age of mankind, a multi-decade era of wars and armed conflict, economic stagnation with respect to our potential, and of anti-human cultural decline, is coming to an end, one way or another: either through the fiery destruction of nuclear war, or through the coming into being of a new paradigm.

The world trend of drawing away from Anglo-American imperialism intensifies every day. The just-concluded visit to China of French President Emmanuel Macron reflects the growing sense of autonomy, of independence, of future-orientation taking hold. Macron spoke out strongly against contributing to a conflict over Taiwan. “The worst thing would be to think that we Europeans must become followers on this topic and take our cue from the U.S. agenda,” he proclaimed. The New York Times quickly warned that “Mr. Macron appeared to inch France closer to the Chinese view that the world is undergoing ‘changes that haven’t happened in 100 years.’”

What sort of changes? The Times worries that “the liberal institutions of the postwar order” are under “assault from Beijing and Moscow,” that push for a “multipolar world,” which the supposed newspaper of record claims is “thinly disguised code for one that is not American dominated.”

With such naked demands from its ostensibly leading newspaper that the world must forever be “American dominated,” is it any wonder that the U.S. is rapidly losing power, both diplomatically and economically?

In Africa, the U.S. is 0 for 54 in getting countries of the continent to join in sanctions against Russia. Chad just expelled the German ambassador for his “impolite attitude” and for “interfering too much” in the country’s internal affairs.

In Southwest Asia, the China-mediated Iran-Saudi rapprochement and the Russia-assisted potential thaw in Turkish-Syrian relations point to a future for the region without the conflicts that have so divided it over decades. The potential for an end to the Saudi Arabia-Yemen war is in sight. Syria’s return to the Arab League, meeting in Riyadh in May, is expected. And all this is no thanks to the Anglo-American imperium.

In the economy, de-dollarization is not going to slow; even Macron warned of Europe’s dependence on the “extraterritoriality of the U.S. dollar.”

Easter marches in Germany are demanding peace negotiations in Ukraine. An upcoming doctors’ strike in the U.K. comes with demands for an improved health system. The people of France continue to stand up.

What can you do to cause the miracle of sanity to descend upon the United States, Britain and NATO?

Helga Zepp-LaRouche’s Ten Principles for a New International Security and Development Architecture serve as a guiding vision for a joyous future. Next weekend the Schiller Institute will assemble people from around the world to deliberate on the theme: “Without the Development of All Nations, There Can Be No Lasting Peace for the Planet.”

The danger of World War III and efforts to prevent it, the potential of the “Global South” to create conditions for peace will be addressed, as will the economic and philosophical foundations for a new paradigm of growth.

The Great Chessboard

Finally, Trump and Putin Talk; Now, Will We Ally Against Our Common Enemy?

June 4, 2025 (EIRNS)—Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin finally held a telephone conversation today, June 4, three long days after the Kiev regime launched an astoundingly provocative drone attack on five Russian airbases simultaneously, which house that country’s strategic bomber fleet. Whether 40% or only 10% of Russia’s airborne nuclear capability was destroyed in the attack is irrelevant; the fact is that whoever prepared, trained and gave the final green light for Kiev’s drone operation was itching to unleash a nuclear-strategic conflict between the world’s two greatest nuclear weapons superpowers.

We Declared Our Independence 250 Years Ago; Demonstrate It Now, or Risk Armageddon

June 3, 2025 (EIRNS)—Ever since the June 1st Ukrainian attacks on the five Russian military bases (which attacks failed or were repelled at three of them), the mainstream media have been crowing about “flipping the script”—“Russia is weakened!” they scream. “Now is the time to assassinate Putin!” blare the NATO-bots in social media. Another threefold attack has been made on the beautiful Crimean Kerch Bridge, which appears to have failed to cause the severe structural damage intended, but is an obvious escalation, and provides more “evidence” for the gullible about Russia’s supposed weakness.
