June 4, 2025 (EIRNS)—Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin finally held a telephone conversation today, June 4, three long days after the Kiev regime launched an astoundingly provocative drone attack on five Russian airbases simultaneously, which house that country’s strategic bomber fleet. Whether 40% or only 10% of Russia’s airborne nuclear capability was destroyed in the attack is irrelevant; the fact is that whoever prepared, trained and gave the final green light for Kiev’s drone operation was itching to unleash a nuclear-strategic conflict between the world’s two greatest nuclear weapons superpowers.
They failed—so far.
Trump and Putin spoke by phone for one hour and 15 minutes today. “We discussed the attack on Russia’s docked airplanes, by Ukraine,” Trump posted on his Truth Social account midday on June 4, adding that “It was a good conversation, but not a conversation that will lead to immediate Peace. President Putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields.” Trump told Putin that the Americans had not been advised before the attack by Kiev, according to a readout of the call provided by Kremlin advisor Yuri Ushakov.
But if Trump did not give the order—and there are many reasons to believe he told Putin the truth on this—then, who did? Who has the (usurped) power to launch an attack targeting the nuclear deterrent forces of the planet’s leading nuclear weapons nation, without telling the President of the United States?
The world may have dodged the bullet of nuclear war—for the moment. But that gun is still loaded; and it is still being wielded by the British and American intelligence circles that are intent on driving a permanent wedge between Trump and Putin, and who are prepared to stage a coup d’état and even assassinate both heads of state—as well as launch another nuclear provocation.
The parallels with the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attack on the U.S. have not been lost on insightful analysts. In the middle of that attack, Russian President Vladimir Putin called U.S. President George W. Bush and assured him that Russia had nothing to do with the attack, and that Russia was standing down its own nuclear deterrent forces to preclude any misunderstanding. Putin then went on national TV to state: “In the name of Russia, I want to say to the American people—we are with you.”
The American statesman Lyndon LaRouche wrote at the time that 9/11 was in fact an intended coup d’état inside the U.S., combined with an attempt to unleash a strategic-nuclear showdown between the U.S. and Russia. In a Dec. 23, 2001 article, LaRouche stated dramatically: “Although the telephone conversation, as repeatedly reported publicly by President Bush, between Bush and Russia’s President Putin, resulted in a failure of the initial nuclear-strategic aims of the attempted coup d’état, the perpetrators of that attempted coup are still roaming free, are still lurking within the high-ranking positions they held on the early morning of Sept. 11, and are still poised to strike, menacing the U.S. government and President, even still today.”
Today, 24 years after LaRouche issued that warning, those forces are still poised to strike. The purpose of such a strategic strike, LaRouche repeatedly emphasized, would be to usher in a one-worldist dictatorship to impose wars and Schachtian economic austerity on a collapsing and bankrupt global financial system, and to prevent the emergence of an alternate system built on the foundation of the common security interests, and the common development needs, of all nations on the planet.
Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche demanded today: How many more steps towards nuclear war do you need before you wake up and act? One more qualitative step, and we may have no options left, she warned.
This alarum, and the hopeful alternative of a new international security and development architecture, is the unified message which all representatives and organizers of the Schiller Institute and the LaRouche movement will be getting out through media interviews and other activities across the planet in the immediate days ahead, including by circulating the statement
“Step Back From the Brink of World War III!!”. To that end, we will be mustering all forces for peace and development worldwide at the upcoming meeting of the International Peace Coalition on Friday, June 6, at 11 a.m. ET.
