Either Thermonuclear Fusion... or Thermonuclear War

Recently, physicists at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory made a breakthrough. They achieved the first ever net energy gain in a fusion reaction—the first controlled thermonuclear ignition. As the LaRouche movement has always stressed, the breakthrough to fusion energy would mean untold benefit to mankind, forever solving issues of "scarce resources," and would be a driver for a new scientific industrial revolution worldwide.

But this requires a political and mindset shift, first. The entirety of the press conference announcing the experimental results was dedicated to this technology's importance to maintaining the U.S.'s security—i.e. their nuclear weapons.

Thermonuclear energy could end the human species. It could also be the most powerful aid in ending the disease of oligarchism forever. Which one will we choose?
