For this week's Fireside Chat, we were joined by Paul Gallagher Economics editor at Executive Intelligence Review, and Diane Sare, Candidate for U.S. Senate (NY 2022)Host — Dennis Speed, LaRouche Manhattan Project Coordinator
In July, 2001, the newly-elected President, George H. W. Bush, met with President Vladimir Putin. At the time, there was a hard-line push from the neo-cons to dump the ABM Treaty with Russia - so as to begin building missile-defense systems close to the Russian border, and so to pin down a potential Russian response to a first-strike nuclear attack. However, the transparent argument presented to Putin was that the US had to withdraw from the treaty so as to build new ABM systems to counter of the danger coming from "rogue states"such as Iran. Such systems, supposedly, would need to be placed in eastern Europe, so as to protect western Europe. (At one point, Putin attempted to ‘call the bluff’ of this charade about Iran, by offering the United States, a joint ABM system in southern Russia, significantly closer to the Iranian border. The silent response to Putin’s offer was deafening.) Putin was clear then, and has been clear for twenty years, that the US and Russia could collaborate against rogue states, but that ABM systems deployed on the Russian border, against a potential Russian counter-strike, was intolerably destabilizing. In the July, 2001 meeting, Putin offered Bush that Russia would agree to the US leaving the ABM Treaty, if a new treaty dealing with the amount of offensive nuclear weapons were put in place - something Bush evidently found agreeable.Back in Washington, the Defense Secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, and the Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security, John Bolton, became concerned that Bush wasn’t fully on board. The two went to Moscow a couple of weeks later to make clear that the US was withdrawing from the ABM Treaty without any new treaty. Rumsfeld’s meeting with Sergei Ivanov, the Defense Secretary, left Ivanov cold. Afterwards, Rumsfeld was allowed to meet with Putin, but to no avail. According to Bolton, Putin countered. "Putin raised the prospect of Russia’s joining NATO, saying, ‘We are being pushed out the system of civilized Western defense.’" Putin hit the nail on the head. Rumsfeld and Bolton indeed meant to push a "Clash of Civilizations," even if it involved thermonuclear saber-rattling.The Rumsfeld/Bolton message was not being well received. After more than a few hours of such an impasse, the Russians simply dropped the "LaRouche card." General Yuri Baluyevsky, the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, and the one in charge of negotiations with NATO over missile defense, asked Rumsfeld and Bolton if they knew who had actually originated Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative – a real offer for Russia and America to collaborate on a strategic defense, that would render nuclear weapons impotent and obsolete. Evidently, Rumsfeld and Bolton were ignorant, feigned ignorance, or simply froze. The General went on - it was "an economist named Lyndon LaRouche." Message delivered.Neither Rumsfeld nor Bolton spoke publicly about this intervention until years later, and then they pretended that General Baluyevsky was simply an Internet conspirophile. This is the Russian General in charge of missile defense negotiations, a man who was in no way ignorant of the Reagan SDI offer and of LaRouche’s role in back-channel discussions with the Russian authorities over the SDI. Rumsfeld’s 2011 memoir, "Known and Unknown gave his version: "At a dinner with Ivanov and senior Russian military officials, General Yuri Baluyevsky, then the country's second-ranking military officer, regaled us with a fascinating 'fact' I suspect he may have learned from the internet. The brains behind the U.S. missile-defense system he declared, as if he had unearthed an embarrassing secret, was 'an economist named Lyndon LaRouche.' ... To my knowledge, his influence on the American missile defense program was nil. I made an effort to correct the record for the assembled Russians. But the encounter was troubling. It was not in either of our interests that Russian military leaders should lack such basic knowledge about the United States and the ways American officials think and operate."Gen. Yuri Baluyevsky, Rumsfeld’s internet hound, shortly after this became Putin's First Deputy Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces. Rumsfeld shocked and awed, i.e., blitzkrieged, the country into a victory that just won't go away.
In his annual conversation with the Russian people, Russian President Putin emphasized that the world is changing, and one of the most important changes is that no nation, or group of nations, can dictate policy, under the umbrella of enforcement of a self-interested "Rules-Based Order." He reiterated that Russia is open for dialogue, for cooperation, but its sovereignty cannot be challenged. He stated that he hopes Russia's partners in the west understand this, and will cease the provocations and sanctions, for the sake of peaceful and mutually beneficial cooperation.
The four extraordinary panels of the Schiller Institute’s June 26-27 conference described to you in Sunday’s EIR Alert open up new areas for rapidly expanded organizing and influence on world developments by the Schiller Institute and The LaRouche Organization. The latter’s Great Leap Backward pamphlet against the Green New Deal, circulating widely for months, led to a Saturday afternoon panel of real experts presenting “The Real Science Behind Climate Change”, which will become the new basis for discussion among scientists internationally. It is now the leading edge for organizing the “worldwide anti-Malthusian resistance” to defeat the Green New Deal and “Great Reset”.The Sunday morning panel, “Global Glass-Steagall To End Hyperinflation,” relaunches our drive for Glass-Steagall restoration, which was initiated by Lyndon LaRouche with several members of Congress already in 2007 just before the Global Financial Crash. At the same time it opens up anti-monopoly organizing potential in agriculture, where the pandemic has shown that a new model of family farming is necessary if we are long going to continue to eat. The opening session, “War with Russia and China Is Worse than MAD,” with a profound keynote from Helga Zepp-LaRouche and representatives from Russia, China, India and the United States, intensified the Schiller Institute’s 18-month drive for a summit of leaders of those four, genuinely to substitute collaboration in development in place of war. If that is going to be done, the first and primary mission has become clear in the past 18 months. A modern capacity for healthcare, hospitals, public health and medical staff must be created in every nation of the world, where the pandemic has shown that most nations have no approximation of this. The “advanced” countries have seen their lowered hospital capacity overwhelmed by COVID; in the developing nations hundreds of thousands have died at home. The pandemic continues; this must be done, and only collaboration of the strongest nations economically can do it. Helga LaRouche has not stopped urging this be done, since March of last year. In the fourth session of the conference Sunday afternoon she discussed this potential for three and a half hours with two former U.S. Surgeons General, other medical experts, retired U.S. military professionals, and a UN representative of Russia. The key is clean water. Each new hospital of 300 beds requires a reliable source of 100,000 gallons of clean water daily; but this is just the beginning. Public health rests on clean water for residential areas, water for sanitation systems, prevention of floods and swamps and therefore water management for transportation and irrigation for food crops, water for animal husbandry. Clean water really involves river basin systems, which can produce new electricity for new hospitals. This “infrastructure” task of clean water and associated power, bound up with modern public health, hospital, clinic, laboratory systems which must be built in every nation, is the opening for converting confrontation of the military and political systems of the United States, China, Russia, India to the beginning of cooperation in third countries, developing nations. The needed professional representatives of all those nations were at Helga Zepp-LaRouche’s Schiller Institute conference, and that international deliberation is underway. (By the way, the greatest infrastructure need of the United States, by far, is for great projects of water transfer and water desalination to prevent the entire West of the nation from becoming an uninhabited desert, in the drought which has been intensifying for a generation.) Forget the political somersaults now going on in Washington whether to pass—whether to fund—whether the President will sign—a bill called “infrastructure” which ignores this entire life-and-death infrastructure matter for the human race. Join the Schiller Institute’s mobilization of conferences until the mission is fully underway worldwide.
With power outages hitting many states in the U.S., from the Pacific Coast to Michigan, it should be becoming clear to more people that not only will "Green" infrastructure not work, but it's not supposed to work -- it is part of the policy to accelerate deindustrialization, with the intent to reduce population. Join our anti-Malthusian mobilization, to debunk the fake science behind "man-made climate change". Lyndon LaRouche already proved, many years ago, that "There Are No Limits to Growth."
In reviewing the just-concluded conference of the Schiller Institute, its founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche pointed to the ongoing provocations of London-based imperial interests as a dynamic for war. With the explicit intent of NATO’s Global 2030 policy to encircle Russia and China, to ensure that the Great Reset and Green New Deal can be successfully consolidated, we brought together leaders from all parts of the world to build an effective anti-Malthusian resistance to defeat this imperial design. She emphasized the special importance of a change in the method of thinking, by adopting the concept introduced by Nicholas of Cusa of the “Coincidence of Opposites” — which was demonstrated in each of the four conference panels — as necessary to win this fight. As the crises facing humanity escalate, she pointed to the fact that many more people are looking at Lyndon LaRouche’s ideas, as a hopeful sign that the New Paradigm can be brought into existence.
As more becomes known about the provocation launched by the British warship HMS Defender, it is clear this was a provocation aimed at sabotaging any potential for better relations between the U.S. and Russia. It is an example of the kind of gunboat diplomacy which characterized the British Empire's actions to dominate global trade and commerce, and force all nations to submit to Pax Britannica -- an example of the kind of unilateral world order behind today's drive for the Great Reset. But Russia and China will not submit. The big question today is, will the U.S. continue to carry out the agenda of the City of London, as it has on nearly all important strategic and economic issues since the assassination of John F. Kennedy nearly 60 years ago?
This past weekend's Schiller Institute conference pointed the way toward an escape from the devastating consequences of the end of an imperial era, with a dialogue demonstrating the potential for sovereign nation states to cooperate for the benefit of all mankind. The Empire will not just go away quietly, though. Instead, they are engaging in one provocation after another, with special emphasis this week on the Black Sea and Syria. Watch the Schiller Institute conference, at the schillerinstitute.com and join us to move humanity into a new era.
Representatives of governments and elected officials, together with scientists, economists, farmers, public health professionals, retired military and intelligence officers, and musicians, from around the world, joined forces this past weekend in an International Schiller Institute Conference to analyze the existential crisis facing mankind today, and deliberate on the means required to mobilize the world behind a new paradigm, free of geopolitics and Malthusianism, based on “peace through development.” One after another, these “citizens of the world” expressed their thanks to the Schiller Institute and its founder and Chairwoman Helga Zepp LaRouche for mobilizing the conference, and insisting that every effort be made to circulate the video and the transcripts as widely as possible. The conference was titled “For the Common Good of All People, Not Rules Benefitting the Few.” Mrs. Zepp-LaRouche’s Keynote opened the first panel, titled “Whom the Gods Would Destroy: War with Russia and China Is Worse Than MAD!” She noted the timely nature of this panel, since the British had intervened just in the past week to sabotage the small, but critical step forward achieved at the Biden-Putin Summit, where the two leaders renewed the pledge made by Presidents Reagan and Gorbachev at their 1985 Summit: “Nuclear war cannot be won, and must never be fought.” The intentional deployment of a British warship into Russian maritime territory, she declared, is another example of the British Empire’s effort to draw the U.S. into a military conflict with Russia, and demonstrates how easily a war—even a nuclear war—could be sparked by such evil actions. Zepp-LaRouche reviewed the past half-century of efforts by Lyndon LaRouche and his movement to end the Malthusian madness, posing solutions based on uniting the great nations and cultures of the world in a new world order based on the dignity of man, scientific cooperation and aesthetic education. Had her husband been listened to, she said, this unraveling global disaster would have been avoided—and it is still the case that any solution requires listening to the “wise words of Lyndon LaRouche.” She repeatedly emphasized throughout the conference the concept behind the Committee on the Coincidence of Opposites, founded by herself and former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Joycelyn Elders, that the building of modern public health facilities in every nation is not only necessary to end the pandemic, and prevent future pandemics, an issue for every person on Earth, but also forces a serious consideration of the other aspects of infrastructure required for modern health—namely clean water, energy, transportation and more. Dr. Andrey Kortunev, the Director General of the Russian International Affairs Council (the leading think tank associated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs), spoke after Zepp-LaRouche, on: “Has the Geneva Summit Changed Relations Between the U.S. and Russia?” He observed that expectations for the Summit were low, given the attacks on Russia from the U.S., including from within the Administration, but the agreement to jointly assert that nuclear war could not be won and must not be fought, and the agreement to set up high-level discussions on arms control, cyber war, and other issues, were signs of hope for improved relations. Still, progress will not be possible, he said, without new ideas, and thanked the Schiller Institute for the conference, and the urgency to get beyond “conventional wisdom.” This opening strategic panel included a presentation on the view from India by Atul Aneja, the Editor of IndiaNarrative.com, on the need for engagement between India, Russia and China in addressing the global crisis. Col. Richard H. Black (ret.), former head of the U.S. Army’s Criminal Law Division, spoke on “U.S.-China Relations: A Pathway for War Avoidance and Cooperation.” Colonel Black denounced the mindless attacks on China from the Congress, media and institutions in the U.S.. He called for renewing the spirit of the opening of relations under President Nixon, and warned against the recent efforts to provoke a crisis between Taiwan and the mainland, which could provoke war. He reviewed the terrorist operations in Xinjiang by Uighur Muslims with backing from Saudi Arabia and Turkey, which prompted Beijing to provide extensive education and job training for the youth. This humanist approach, he said was denounced as “genocide” by the liars and fools in the West. As an expert in the situation in Syria, Colonel Black stated that 4,000 trained Uighur terrorists are fighting with al-Qaeda in Syria. If the U.S. approach—supporting the terrorists to achieve regime change against President Bashar al-Assad—is allowed to succeed, the terrorists will eventually flow back into China. He appealed to China to bring the Belt and Road into Syria to save the nation from disintegration. What would be the result of war with China, he asked? “Either a land war in Asia—and we know how that worked out before,—or nuclear war and the end of civilization.” This strategic panel closed with Ray McGovern, a former CIA Russia expert and Cofounder of the Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS), who spoke on: “When One Step Back Is Also One Step Forward: The Coincidence of Opposites.” He addressed the sin of hubris which drives those political leaders who fall into the category of: “Whom the Gods would destroy they first drive mad.” He analyzed the recent U.S. and British provocations against Russia, which finally caused Biden and perhaps some of his aides to seek the summit with Putin. He ridiculed those who believe they can play Russia off against China, and advised Biden to fire the U.S. military leader who recently declared that nuclear war is now “likely.” The second panel, “The Real Science Behind Climate Change: Why the World Needs Seven Terawatts of Energy,” featured outstanding and courageous scientists from around the world, both refuting the fake science behind the claim of anthropogenic climate change, and appealing for an end to the Malthusian campaign against fossil fuels, while calling for a massive increase in nuclear power development and expanded research for fusion. Scientists from the U.S., South Africa, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Germany contributed. The third panel, “Weimar Germany 1923 Comes Again: Global Glass-Steagall Policy To End Hyperinflation,” featured Jacques Cheminade, the head of the LaRouche movement’s sister organization in France, EIR economic editor Paul Gallagher, and EIR Ibero-America intelligence director Dennis Small. Gallagher presented LaRouche’s discovery that the actual source of wealth is not raw materials or physical human labor, but ideas and discoveries transformed into new technologies. He reviewed the reality behind the Green New Deal—the takeover of economic policy from elected governments by the banking cartels—what Mark Carney called “regime change”—to cut off credit from the productive economy under the lie of carbon-induced climate change. He compared these policies to those of Hjalmar Schact, Hitler’s Finance Minister and central banaker, which led to war and the death camps. The massive money printing must be stopped, and Glass-Steagall bank reform implemented in every country to wipe out the fake debt, and launch LaRouche’s Four Laws for global development. Small reviewed several of LaRouche’s discoveries in physical economy and the horrendous crisis globally today from the pandemic, the financial bubble, the war, sanctions policy and the cultural decay. He also exposed the bitcoin hysteria as a wildly speculative bubble. Two men from Kansas spoke—a rancher, Mike Callicrate, spoke on the urgent need to stop the cartelization of agriculture, showing the destruction of both farmers and the food supply which has resulted from agriculture being turned over to Wall Street, and calling for the restoration of family farming. State Senator Mike Thompson, the Chairman of the Senate Utilities Committee, addressed: “How Americans Are Herded Into ‘Green’ Energy, by Weaponized, Politicized, Monetized Science.” He said that Kansas now has 41% unreliable and highly subsidized wind power, while the reliable and cheaper coal plants are being shut down based on the carbon hoax, driving up energy prices and leaving the state uncompetitive. Japanese economist Daisuke Kotegawa, a former leading official at the Ministry of Finance in Japan, gave a powerful demonstration that Japan’s allies, the U.S. and the U.K., have repeatedly subverted Japan’s economy. When the Plaza Accords in 1985 forced Japan to double the value of the yen, an unforeseen consequence was that the Japanese banks were able to move into London and compete with the British banks, forcing several venerable British banks to go under. They responded with a “Basel rule” imposed by the BIS, aimed at stopping the Japanese banks. But when the western banks were threatened with collapse in 2008, the Basel rule was not applied, but rather “stress tests,” which, Kotegawa said, covered up that the banks were already bankrupt so the tests were bogus. Thus no western bankers went to jail, the QE simply increased the bubble, and now threatens hyperinflation without immediate Glass- Steagall measures. French economist and jurist Marc Gabriel Draghi spoke on the massive impact of the speculative bubble and the Great Reset in Europe. Pedro Rubio, President of the Association of Officials of the General Accounting Office in Columbia and a long time collaborator of the LaRouche movement, focused on the disastrous impact of the pandemic and the economic collapse in Columbia, leading to weeks of massive demonstrations, primarily by youth who are facing a life with no future. The final panel, “The Coincidence of Opposites: The Only Truly Human Thought Process,” was an extraordinary coming together of American doctors, retired military flag officers, a Russian diplomat, and Helga Zepp-LaRouche, literally putting together on the spot the makings of an international alliance of forces to begin the process of building modern health facilities in every country. This would use the skills of military forces—potentially from several countries, including Russia—in dealing with emergencies around the world to address the more long-term emergency of economic backwardness, starting with hospitals, clean water, power and other infrastructure required for a functioning health care system. Zepp-LaRouche opened the session by describing what the 14th century genius Nicholas of Cusa meant by “coincidence of opposites”—overcoming apparently contradictory concepts, or opposing political or religious forces, by rising to a higher platform, where the common aims of mankind supersede the subsumed contradictions. She asserted that the unipolar world is now gone, while the world is poised in conflict between the new multi-polar world, based on international law in the UN Charter, against the hangers-on to the unipolar world, who have manufactured a “rules -based order” of their own construct, ignoring international law. Two former U.S. Surgeon Generals, Dr. Joycelyn Elders and Dr. David Satcher, and two retired officers, Maj. Gen. Peter Clegg and Rear Adm. Marc Y.E. Palaez, were joined by Boris Meshchanov, a Counselor at the Russian Federation Mission to the United Nations. Meshchanov addressed “The Russian Perspective on a Global Sustainable and Sustained Recovery.” Following a rich discussion, Zepp-LaRouche asked if the discussion could lead to a concrete result of these representatives of the medical profession, the military and the Russian foreign ministry could commit to setting in motion a process to establish a working group to begin the process of building modern health facilities, perhaps in a selected group of countries in Africa, South America and Asia. While Mr. Meshchanov expressed support for the concept, he thought the strategic area, which is now under discussion between Washington and Moscow, must be the first area of cooperation given the current extremely strained relations. Rear Admiral Palaez asserted forcefully that clean water was an essential beginning, and that this was something the military could do, and which should not divide us among nations. Dr. Khadijah Lang and Marcia Merry Baker, members of the Committee on the Coincidence of Opposites, then gave a report on the Committee’s “Mozambique Pilot Aid Shipment — Action Diplomacy for World Health Security.” Mayor David Castro, President of the Mayors Without Borders Coalition in Honduras sent a video “Greetings to the Conference,” expressing his strong support for the work of the Schiller Institute. The conference closed with a moving presentation by Diane Sare, a candidate for United States Senate in New York State and the founder of the Schiller Institute NYC Chorus. Her presentation was titled “E Pluribus Unum: What We Can Learn from Beethoven.” First posing examples of less than stellar music which avoid the interface of complex voices, she then demonstrated the coincidence of opposites in the Credo movement of Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, using examples from the performance of her own chorus. By first playing each vocal voice alone, then several of the instrumental voices alone, noting that there are about 29 voices altogether, sounding very different when played alone, she demonstrated how Beethoven makes it a unity in a way which provokes the mind to rise to the level of the creativity of the composer. She closed by playing the final performance as an uplifting close to the incredible conference. After a recitation of the Declaration of Independence of the United States, slightly abridged to serve as the declaration of the founding of the Schiller Institute in 1984, and the Rutli Oath from Friedrich Schiller’s William Tell, which was based on the U.S. Declaration, the conference was closed by Helga Zepp-LaRouche with the following words: “The state of tension of what we have discussed in the world is incredible—going to the edge of what could be a nuclear war, repeatedly…. I have no idea if the proposal to transfer American military production to a peaceful purpose—perhaps this is utopian. But I’m an eternal optimist that maybe the combination of these ideas, and the danger, that it cannot be in the interest of anybody that this goes out of control, and at the same time the demonstration of good will shown here today, with doctors, and military men offering that the military could help by providing clean water to the world—perhaps there are enough ideas that something will come out of it.”
A powerful advertisement for this weekend’s Schiller Institute conference came in the form of the brazen British naval provocation in Russian waters. Shortly after a U.K.-Ukraine $1.7 billion arms deal was signed on its deck in Odessa, and during the ongoing Moscow International Security Conference, the HMS Defender, deliberately, provocatively, and insanely ventured into Russian territorial waters off Crimea, under the guise of innocent transit through what the British claim are “Ukrainian” waters. This insane action was met with Russian warning shots from the sea and from the air and the ominous statement from a Russian official that “I have to warn the ex-‘ruler of the waves,’ that next time such a decision is taken, bombs will be dropped not ahead of the target, but on the target.”Clearly it is not international law to which the British refer in their demands for respect for the “rules-based international order,” but rather to whatever rules they devise. Why provoke Russia in a way that could lead, even by accident, to nuclear warfare? As Helga Zepp-LaRouche has stated in her conception of the first, strategic panel of this weekend’s conference, “Whom the Gods Would Destroy, They First Make MAD.” Speakers from Russia, China, India, and the United States will address the enormous danger of war, and the path forward to be charted through the collaboration of those four nations. Today’s afternoon panel will address the order-of-magnitude expansion of power required for the development of the world, while heaping richly deserved ridicule on the notion that such power can be achieved with low-grade sources such as wind and solar, under a commitment to rapid reduction of CO₂ emissions. The galloping hyperinflation, evident in prices for housing, food, raw materials—everywhere except in the assessments of the trans-Atlantic central banks, is the topic of the third panel, which will present the solutions required to crush Wall Street and the City of London. Sunday’s concluding panel—“The Coincidence of Opposites: The Only Truly Human Thought Process”—addresses directly the quality of thought required for creative and successful deliberation to address the world’s challenges and promote “the common good of all people.” Join the conference, and bring your friends and networks.
The British government at first denied there was a confrontation in the Black Sea with Russian naval vessels, then proclaimed they do not recognize that Crimea is Russian; and finally, a BBC reporter, on board the ship, admitted it was "a deliberate move to make a point to Russia." At the risk of a nuclear war? And what exactly is that point, that the Brits can force the U.S. into a war with Russia? Join us tomorrow and Sunday, at Schillerinstitute.com, for a two-day online conference, to become part of the mobilization to flank the evil bastards from the City of London who keep playing such dangerous games.
As has been made clear from Britain's outrageously provocative attempt to provoke war with Russia in the Black Sea this week, "those whom the Gods would destroy, they first make mad." This subject will be taken up explicitly at the Schiller Institute's international conference this Saturday and Sunday. This week's Fireside Chat provided the context and set the strategic stage for what will be presented in the conference this weekend. Listen in with guests Diane Sare and Mike Billington, and tell everyone you can to register for and attend this weekend! https://schillerinstitute.nationbuilder.com/20210626-27-conference
Yes, it’s true that the BBC reported yesterday that the HMS Defender’s foray into Russian territorial waters was a deliberate provocation that was, as BBC reporter Jonathan Beale, who was on the destroyer, said, “a deliberate move to make a point to Russia.” But what was the point? Was it, perhaps, that “Whom the gods would destroy, they first make MAD?” Were the British unintentionally underscoring the theme designated by Helga Zepp-LaRouche for the first panel of the upcoming Schiller Institute conference? The British, incensed by the fact of the Putin-Biden summit, and the communique that echoed Reagan-Gorbachev 1985, stating that a nuclear war can never be won, and must therefore never be fought, decided to play “Who’s The Boss of the Trans-Atlantic Alliance?” in Russian territorial waters on June 23. Being literally, as well as littorally-minded, they attempted to “test the waters,” and found them dangerously warm. It might have been easier to read the recently-released RAND report (June 23,) which almost told the truth: “NATO might lose a nuclear war with Russia.” “Although the overall military power of the United States and the NATO alliance vastly outstrips that of Russia, a regional conflict close to Russia’s borders would pose enormous challenges and could result in defeat for the West.” Only polygon-to-circle closer to the truth, though, because, indeed, there is no “might” about it. The RAND report itself, probably influenced by earlier fantasies such as the “Prompt Global Strike” mirage, is delusional. Last week’s Geneva communique, on the other hand, was accurate: nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought. Reality, however, has rarely been a British strong suit. Evil, more often than not, bases its dirty practices on desire, not reality. “Dirty Bertie” Russell, whom Lyndon LaRouche called “the most evil man of the twentieth century,” was dominated by a lustful desire for the resurrection of an imperial world order that he knew to be doomed. In a 1952 interview, on or about his 80th birthday, which can be viewed on YouTube, Bertrand Russel said," It’s very difficult for anybody born since 1914, to realize how profoundly different the world is now from what it was when I was a child…. A world where ancient empires vanish like morning mist… We have to accustom ourselves to Asiatic self- assertion…It is an extraordinarily difficult thing for an old man to live in such a world.." So, like many a lecherous old man, he sought to destroy it. “Russell made more than a dozen public statements in speeches and articles concerning Russia and war in the 1945-48 period,” Ray Perkins, Jr wrote in the paper “Bertrand Russell and Preventive War”. In a footnote to his article, Perkins states: “[I]n a televised interview with John Freeman published on the 19th of March, 1959, Russell claimed that he was prepared to go to war if the Soviets had not given in: ‘you can’t threaten unless you’re prepared to have your bluff called.’” Climate change and thermonuclear war are a single strategy of the descendants of Russell. NATO, as you will read, is retooling itself as the primary world advocate for “saving the Earth,” echoing the Aquarian-utopian premises of earlier fascist movements, as the book “How Green Were The Nazis?” partially documented, and the Schiller Institute’s own The Hitler Book" showed more thoroughly some years ago. British Mini-Minister for the Armed Forces James Heappey, in a speech before the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), spoke about the implications of climate change on the Armed Forces: "According to a report by the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis, current trends show that when the Arctic is fully open, there will be a potential reduction in travel times and fossil fuel costs of more than 40 per cent to maritime shipping. Elsewhere, Oxford University’s Future of Arctic Enterprise report states that the Arctic seabed contains about 13 per cent of the world’s remaining undiscovered oil, 30 per cent of the undiscovered natural gas and 20 per cent of the undiscovered natural gas liquids…. “Now, I’m an enthusiastic ‘green’, and I wouldn’t want anybody to think that I am somehow celebrating the opening up of a Northern Sea Route with the opportunities that it brings for fossil fuel extraction. In fact, quite the reverse—I wish that this was not a threat that we had to face. But my job is to work out what we need to do to keep the UK safe and it is a sad reality that the High North could become a potential flashpoint as a result of climate change. “Moving away from the Arctic, another key geo-strategic challenge caused by climate change is desertification. In May I had the opportunity to visit countries along the Sahel, including Mali and further along in the Lake Chad Basin, both Nigeria and Cameroon. I saw first-hand the desert’s increasing encroachment upon the land, where already scarce natural resources are gradually being swallowed up….” At the Moscow Conference on International Security, Russian Security Council chief Nikolai Patrushev also pointed to the Arctic, but with a difference. “NATO’s activity for militarizing the Arctic, especially the deployment of new military infrastructure elements in that region cannot but cause concern.” As for Africa, Russian President Putin’s announced intent to supply that continent with nuclear power, and China’s already-demonstrated commitment to integrating Africa into the 21st Century—including its education of students, from nations such as Ghana—is “not pleasing to the Queen.” Far more concerning to the British beast-men, though, is the demonstrated ability of other governments to think, as in, for example, what Russian minister Sergei Lavrov said in his letter to the participants in the Asia and Pacific High-Level Conference on Belt Road Cooperation: “Today, the entire world community is experiencing serious upheavals due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Broad multilateral cooperation and a unifying agenda are required for comprehensive overcoming of its consequences and effective post-Covid recovery… I am pleased to say that recently we have substantially advanced in aligning plans of the EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) development and the Belt and Road construction.” For example, initiatives like China’s deployment of its veteran astronauts to Hong Kong for a university and high-school lecture series promoting national pride in China’s past and future space missions, powered, as 88-year old “spaceman” Qi Faren, the father of the Shenzhou program, said, by “love of the motherland,” that is, pride in the “one Chinese nation.” Against the principle of the power of Reason, your average beast-man, and beast-regime, as imperial Britain discovered when confronted by Ben Franklin’s Industrial Revolution, is paralyzed, conceptually unable to act. In one sense, the idea that the British are assisting in the organizing of the upcoming Schiller Institute conference is true. That is because the world—including the non-existent “material world” believed in by the Manicheans—is actually governed by the “physical arc of the moral universe.” This is the universe of Filippo Brunelleschi’s catenary principle, discovered not to solve a geometric or mathematical problem, but to crown the Cathedral of Florence as a “transubstantial” physical proof and reflection of the Augustinian outlook of “man in the image of God” proposed in “The City of God.” The Duomo was a realization of the work that Augustine and Ambrose had pioneered in music, which had later been advanced in the work on harmonics of Abbe’ Suger and the great cathedral builders of France, and would give birth to machines, inventions, and architectural techniques that Arnulfo di Cambio, the initial designer of the Cathedral project in 1296, had to believe that others as dedicated to the future mission of humanity as he, would be born to complete. The beast-like geo-political mind rejects the existence of that spiritual-mental power, which is what is actually meant by the assertion: “God does not exist.” The divine, and the ability to divine, are the principle of power, which gives the fire and light of reason and discovery to be molded in the hands of humanity. That is why humanity is the greatest known natural resource for the universe itself. That coincidence of opposites—the individual creative mind that changes the living universe through humanity, and the dynamic universe changing the individual through that same humanity—is the subject matter which the conference of Saturday and Sunday, will not only discuss, but celebrate.
A naval incident provoked by the British in the Black Sea yesterday led to shots fired over the bow of the HMS Defender. Former British Ambassador Craig Murray asked what business it had in the Black Sea, describing its deployment there as "lunacy." Court documents released on the January 6 "insurrection" at the U.S. Capitol demonstrate the involvement of a legion of FBI provocateurs embedded among the demonstrators. These actions have nothing to do with "protecting" us from "aggressive" Russians or domestic terrorists, but in justifying further war build-up and security state spying and psychological warfare in the U.S.
In a press conference immediately following his June 16 summit discussion with President Biden, Russian President Vladimir Putin was asked about the future of U.S.-Russian relations. “As for sanctions and economic restrictions, I have already pointed out that we are not aware of the domestic political mood and the line-up of forces [in the U.S.], or rather we know, but we cannot fully understand the developments. Some forces are against improving relations with Russia, and others support this. I cannot say which of them will win.”The LaRouche Organization and the Schiller Institute have been the most consistent and clearest voices for strategic sanity, uniquely presenting Lyndon LaRouche’s policies for constructing a durable peace based on the bankruptcy reorganization of the global financial system, and providing for the accelerated development of the impoverished developing sector, in particular. The most consistent and clearest voice for strategic lunacy, and driving the world to the brink of nuclear war in order to defend that same bankrupt financial system, has been that of the British Empire. Today, the British Navy’s guided missile destroyer Defender, operating in the Black Sea, intentionally crossed 3 km over into Russian territorial waters off the coast of Crimea, and only departed 30 minutes later after a Russian border guard patrol ship twice fired warning shots across its bow, followed by a fighter jet dropping four bombs in front of the Defender’s path. As former British Ambassador Craig Murray commented: “There are those who see this activity as evidence of the UK’s continued great power status. I see it as evidence of lunacy.” Indeed. All the more so since Putin and other Russian government officials have this week presented the U.S. with concrete initiatives to get the security dialogue underway, and reiterated their government’s willingness to put Russia’s hypersonic and other advanced weapon systems on the negotiating table, so long as serious overall talks occur. And all the more so since the Chinese government has similarly presented the West with an honorable exit from their dead-end economic policies which have unleashed a deadly pandemic which threatens the entire planet, offering instead agreements for economic cooperation that can begin with the establishment of a worldwide system of advanced health-care systems to address the current, and likely future, pandemics. A week ago, Putin stated “I cannot say which of them will win,” referring to the policy battle in the U.S. and the West in general over cooperation or confrontation to address the global crises. The answer to that question, in significant measure, will be provided by those participating in the ongoing process of policy discussion at the Schiller Institute’s international conferences, including the upcoming one to be held this weekend on June 26-27.
Register for the June 26-27 Schiller Institute conference. Reviewing events since the Biden-Putin summit in Geneva, Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp LaRouche pointed to the history lesson Putin gave, which was published in Die Zeit, as a further example of his commitment to make sure that the lessons of World War II are learned. That the war hawk faction in the U.S. is proceeding with more sanctions against Russia and attacks on China -- including the hilarious threat to "isolate China!" -- shows that these lessons are still badly needed. This weekend's online Schiller Institute conference comes at just the right moment, to give citizens an opportunity to intervene in shaping history. With new waves of COVID threatening, electricity flickering in Milan and bridges collapsing in Germany, what kind of idiocy is it to spend more money on wars, instead of building new platforms of infrastructure?
In spite of the continuation of slanders and threats against Russian President Putin, coming from War Hawks in London, Washington and NATO, he wrote an article designed to build on the baby steps away from nuclear war from his Geneva summit with Biden. We must not allow "the burden of past misunderstandings" prevent us from "concentrating on the challenges at hand," he wrote. While there is momentum toward dialogue, the imperial war hawks will stubbornly pursue provocative actions, until they are removed from any positions of power and influence. If we learned anything from the Geneva summit, it is that we must create a movement among citizens to reinforce the conclusion that no one can win a nuclear war.
This week's {Executive Intelligence Review} features the story of Who's Who in controlling the narratives which appear in social media. You know you're being lied to, but who are the liars-in-chief? The same networks which fabricate lying narratives such as Russiagate, Putin's legions of hackers and poisoners, and Chinese concentration camps in Xinjiang, control the "fact checkers" who protect the real liars, centered in the intelligence community in London, Wall Street, and Washington, working hand-in-hand with Silicon Valley tech giants. U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan announced on June 20 that Washington was preparing another package of anti-Russian sanctions over Alexey Navalny and against Russian companies participating in the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline from Russia underneath the Baltic Sea to Europe.Sullivan’s announcement happened on the same day as Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov arrived to resume his post in Washington, after having been recalled for consultations to Moscow on March 20. Sullivan’s remarks drew a sharp response from the ambassador. “This is not a signal we all expected after the summit,” Antonov stressed. “I don’t think it is possible to stabilize and normalize relations between countries by means of sanctions. The current task is to normalize dialogue. First of all, we need to restore wrecked dialogue mechanisms. It is sad that our American colleagues are opting for a path that will not lead us to a positive result our presidents were oriented to.” Antonov continued: “The task is to simply work and implement the positive words that were pronounced by the presidents. Russian diplomats, who are working here, are ready to improve Russian-U.S. relations.” A few hours earlier, he took a commercial Aeroflot flight to New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport, where he was met by Russian diplomats. On arriving in Washington, Antonov said, “Back in Geneva, unlike many of my colleagues, I was very particular about the summit results. I said that I trust deeds more than words. I said let us wait and see what our American colleagues are going to do,” he told journalists upon arrival from Russia. When it comes to plans to impose more sanctions, “What you said—I feel I have seen something of the kind, that we have been through this.” Antonov also said he hoped to meet with his American counterparts in the coming days to determine where things stand. “Let me meet with the American colleagues,” he told journalists. “Everything will be clear in some ten days. So far, it is too early. We do have very serious problems. We are ready for a constructive dialogue, ready to try to resolve all the problems,” TASS quoted him as saying. Interestingly, President Biden and President Putin held a phone discussion on April 13, at which they discussed the need for a face-to-face summit between them. Then, on April 15, President Biden signed an Executive Order with a truckload of sanctions, including expelling 10 Russian diplomats, and sanctioning 32 individuals and companies for alleged interference in the 2020 election, and on and on. After years of not responding to illegal U.S. sanctions, Russia responded. Antonov had already been recalled to Moscow a month earlier. On April 16, the Foreign Ministry announced expulsions of U.S. diplomats on a one-to-one basis for every Russian diplomat expelled. Ending the activities of State Department-controlled NGOs in Russia. And U.S. Ambassador to Moscow John Sullivan was summoned to the Foreign Ministry for what was previewed as a “difficult discussion.” It was shortly afterward revealed that Sullivan was invited to return to Washington for consultations, indefinitely.
Register for the Schiller Institute conference: https://bit.ly/34NTlkb The future is being shaped by the battle between two Paradigms: One, that of the unilateralist insistence, directed from London and Washington, that all nations must give up sovereignty and submit to the phony Rules-Based Order of imperial financial dictators; or move into an era defined by peaceful cooperation for mutual benefit. The world is currently trapped in the former, but signs exist that the latter can be brought into being, depending on the courage and creativity of citizens in moving governments to act in the interests of the people of sovereign republics, rather than bow down to an imperial oligarchy. Join the Schiller Institute for our online conference, June 26 and 27 -- to participate in the mobilization to create a new anti-Malthusian paradigm.
The Schiller Institute International Conference which will take place next weekend, under the theme: “For the Common Good of All People, Not Rules Benefitting the Few!” has been given a few small, but greatly significant boosts in the real world over the past week. The most important was the unexpected Communiqué following the Summit between Presidents Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin. While no Communiqué was necessarily expected, it was signed by both men, and repeated the exact words of Presidents Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev after their November 1985 summit, also in Geneva, that “Today, we reaffirm the principle that a nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought.” Not surprisingly, this extraordinarily important statement—at a time when leading figures and institutions around the world, including this organization, were warning that the world was closer to nuclear war than any time since the Cold War, or perhaps ever—has been largely ignored, or even blacked out, in the leading Western press.Following that Communiqué, Biden’s National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan announced to the press that Biden is seeking to hold a similar personal summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping. It is important to take note of the fact that the British-instigated coup attempts against President Donald Trump were motivated by the British fear that Trump would succeed in his stated intention to be friends with Russia and with China—a deadly threat to the Empire’s division of the world into warring blocs, East vs. West—the core requirement of imperial “divide and conquer.” From the disgusting and threatening tone of the press response to these moves for peaceful cooperation, both to Biden personally at his post-Summit press conference, and filling the pages and the air waves since, it is clear that the spokesmen for Empire and the War Party are not pleased. Another event, also ignored by the American media, but causing a storm in Europe, was the result of the June 13 referendum in Switzerland on a new draconian law to charge fees and taxes on carbon-generating activities—the first vote anywhere in the world on the Green New Deal. Not only was the bill rejected, but subsequent reports show that those under 34 years of age, who are assumed to be those most brainwashed to believe that their future depends on decarbonization, voted overwhelmingly against the bill. The impact in Germany and elsewhere in Europe is huge, generating panic among the Greenies. Germany’s Weltwoche called it “a turning point in international climate policy,” a “popular uprising” against the “dictates of the elites.” EIR and the Schiller Institute have, for many years, exposed the insanity of both the drive for military confrontation with Russia and China, and the Malthusian Green New Deal policy for de-industrialization and depopulation, while also posing the potential for global economic transformation were the world’s leading nations to unite behind a new global financial system and cooperative development of the developing sector nations, along the lines of China’s Belt and Road Initiative. Every Schiller Institute Conference of the past two years has brought together leading political, scientific and cultural figures from all parts of the world, to discuss the means necessary to overcome the real and perceived divisions—political, ethnic, religious, cultural—by addressing the common aims of mankind, a process named the “coincidence of opposites” by the great 15th-century genius Nicholas of Cusa. The upcoming conference will be the same, again demonstrating that such an approach is possible, as well as necessary. The fourth panel in the two-day conference is titled “The Coincidence of Opposites: The Only True Human Thought Process.” Register today!

by: Harley Schlanger June 18—Given the harsh words and shrill tone from the Biden team preceding his meeting with Russian President Putin on June 16, it seemed realistic that both sides were lowering expectations in pre-summit pronouncements. In the days before the summit, Biden met with G7 leaders and NATO officials to create an impression of a united front against the "threats" posed by Russia and China. His spokesmen repeatedly painted a picture of an "Alliance of Democratic States" prepared to confront "autocratic regimes", in defense of an arbitrary "Rules-Based Order" (RBO) unified by adherence to "western values"—values which are under attack due to the "malign intent" allegedly demonstrated by Russia and China.Following the NATO summit in Brussels, Biden said, "Russia and China are both seeking to drive a wedge in our transatlantic solidarity...but NATO is rock solid and unshakeable." In the final communique, Russia is repeatedly identified as an "aggressor" and China as presenting a "systemic challenge", both posing a threat to the RBO. In the face of this threat, it states that NATO "stands by its international commitments", especially regarding Russia, which was accused of continuing "to breach the values, principles, trust and commitment outlined" in the documents defining the Russian-NATO relationship. “The U.S. is back,” Biden enthused time and again, and the others agreed, referring to the fact that the G7, in the past, had been able to shape the global agenda, based on U.S.military and economic power. The apparent unity achieved in these two summits would allow him to confidently "draw red lines" in his meeting with Putin. Yet, cutting through all the platitudes in the flood of words served up by participants at the G7 and NATO summits was a simple statement issued by the Chinese Embassy in London: “The days when global decisions were dictated by a small group of countries are long gone.” This comment in particular shreds one of the conceits bandied about by members of the G7 “Club”, that this summit marked a return to “multilateralism,” highlighted by the presence of the U.S. after the Trump interregnum. To put things in perspective, when the G7 was founded, in 1975, the member countries represented 80% of the world’s GDP; but today, it is just over 30%, according to Statista.com. In terms of population, the seven countries account for less than 10% of the world's total. Thus, while the “seven dwarfs” (as Lyndon LaRouche called them) made a show of unity in Cornwall, there were legitimate concerns over their ability to impose their will on the world, and underneath the surface, disagreements emerged, especially on how “tough” to be against China, exemplified by a push-back from Germany, France and Italy. The demand that nations nonetheless submit to this new order discredits their claim of commitment to “multilateralism.” The proceedings of the G7 summit were shaped not in accordance with principles of international law, but by the arbitrary design of the financial, intelligence, security and diplomatic communities of London and Washington, in tandem with the think tanks and Non-Governmental Organizations financed by the same Military Industrial Complex making strategic decisions. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced months ago that the G7 would be the coming out party for “Global Britain”, a thinly-disguised new imperial order at the center of the RBO. The Biden team was not only fully in step, but has been claiming ownership of this concept.
