Aug. 13, 2024 (EIRNS)—The world today stands at the cusp of direct NATO military involvement in a ground, sea, and air war against Russia—the greatest nuclear superpower on the planet. We have gone well beyond the point of utopian, Dr. Strangelove-style threats from think tanks such as the U.K.’s RUSI and Chatham House and the U.S.’s Atlantic Council and Council on Foreign Relations, and the use of NATO-financed and -armed surrogates such as Ukraine. We are now staring at the prospect of imminent direct engagement between NATO and Russian forces in more than one theater of war.
Aug. 11, 2024 (EIRNS)—We again draw our readers’ attention to the urgent warning voiced by Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov on Aug. 4 in an interview with Rossiya-1 TV: “The problem is that there are no circuit breakers anymore…. Strikes on the territory of Russia are allowed. The Americans’ assurances that no such decisions have been made and no indulgences were granted to Kiev, are worthless.”
Aug. 8, 2024 (EIRNS)—On Sunday August 4, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov—one of the country’s most senior diplomats—delivered studied, sobering remarks in an interview with “Rossiya-1” TV channel. He announced that “the era of Moscow’s unilateral concessions [to the U.S. and NATO] is now definitely over.” He also reported on “extremely disturbing” terrorist plans against Russia—apparently including a plot by the U.S.-backed Ukrainian government to assassinate President Putin.
Aug. 1, 2024 (EIRNS)—When Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche stated back in mid-June of this year that the next 4-5 months leading into the U.S. Presidential election on November 5, “will be—in my view—absolutely decisive whether or not we go into World War III, or if we can go to a New Paradigm,” many may have considered her forecast exaggerated or overstated.

June 28, 2024 (EIRNS)—In remarks to a June 26-27 meeting in Vienna, Austria of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Alexander Grushko questioned the gathered Western diplomats: “Is there an alternative to sliding toward a point of no return? Yes, there is. It is contained in President Putin’s proposals on ending the Ukraine conflict, which he articulated at a meeting with the Foreign Ministry senior officials on June 14.”
June 23, 2024 (EIRNS)—At the conclusion of the weekly International Peace Coalition meeting No. 55 on Friday, June 21, Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche spoke about the importance of the Executive Intelligence Review and its Daily Alert. The publication EIR, founded just over 50 years ago, devoted to a method of inquiry and investigation practiced and promulgated by its founder, Schiller Institute co-founder, and economist and statesman Lyndon LaRouche LaRouche (1922-2019). June 22, 2024 (EIRNS)—It is one week since Russian President Vladimir Putin presented a comprehensive initiative for a new Eurasian security architecture, including a negotiated peace to stop the escalating war in Ukraine, for the world’s consideration. He did this on June 14 in an hour-long address to leaders of Russia’s Foreign Ministry, and he was explicit that his proposal was designed to ensure the security of all nations, including those of Europe and NATO.
June 19, 2024 (EIRNS)—In a sensible world, the heads of state of NATO would take up Russian President Vladimir Putin’s June 14 detailed proposal for global security, including ending the war in Ukraine, at their heads of state summit in Washington, D.C. on July 7-9. They would deliberate on its pros and cons, perhaps reject aspects of it, ask for clarification on others, and build on common ground to bring humanity back from the very cliff of global thermonuclear war.

June 5, 2024 (EIRNS)—Russian President Vladimir Putin held a three-hour press conference on June 5 with the international media gathered for the opening of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), in which he responded to last week’s announcement by the United States and other NATO countries that they would allow Ukraine to start using long-range NATO weapons, including the ATACMS, to strike inside the borders of Russia.
May 29, 2024 (EIRNS)—Three “Ukrainian” drone/missile attacks in a week on Russia’s early-warning radar system—the most recent one in the early morning of May 29—have brought the world to the edge of a breakdown in global strategic security, and a nuclear war. The attacks fulfill one of Russia’s stated policy conditions for counterattack with its nuclear missile forces. Whether the NATO powers have themselves ordered and supplied these Armageddon-like attacks from Ukraine—which seems more than likely for both political and technical reasons—or have failed to stop Ukraine’s desperate leadership from launching them, the resulting “Chicken Game” with nuclear weapons is on.
May 22—That is the question that will be posed—and answered—this Friday, May 24 at the 51st consecutive weekly meeting of the International Peace Coalition (IPC), which was initiated nearly a year ago by Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche.
May 15—“We are on the verge of civil war,” Slovak Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok warned gravely late Wednesday, May 15, after an attempted assassination of Prime Minister Robert Fico earlier today left him fighting for his life. “The gunman shot five times … the first information we have is that this was a politically motivated act,” Eštok stated, adding that the 71-year-old gunman decided to attack Fico following the April 6 presidential elections, which were won by Fico’s colleague Peter Pellegrini.
