May 30, 2024 (EIRNS)—The multiple hits from Ukraine—supported by Western logistics—into Russia in recent days, targeting its nuclear anti-missile radar infrastructure, have escalated the world to an extreme point of danger of nuclear war. These drone attacks, targeted at points in Krasnodar Krai and Orenburg, cross the red line on what Russia considers an existential threat, which was spelled out definitively in writing in 2020 by the government of Russia, exactly for the purposes of preventing such violations, and preventing world war (“Basic Principles of State Policy of the Russian Federation on Nuclear Deterrence,” June 2, 2020). |
May 20—Today, Prosecutor Karim A.A. Khan of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, announced his request to the Court to issue warrants for the arrest on charges of “war crimes and crimes against humanity” of Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and three Hamas leaders: Ismail Haniyeh, Mohammed Diab Ibrahim Al-Masri, and Yahya Sinwar. Among enumerated charges against Netanyahu and Gallant, were “starvation of civilians as a method of warfare”; “wilfully causing great suffering, or serious injury”; “intentionally directing attacks against a civilian population as a war crime”; and “other inhumane acts as crimes against humanity….” |
May 18—There is no doubt that the world is now in a “pre-war” phase, in danger of all-out warfare and nuclear annihilation, unless brought back from the brink. How long will the “pre-war” phase last? |
May 11—The situation in Gaza is now at the extermination phase. Today, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued an “urgent warning” telling residents in central parts of Rafah to evacuate, because their area will be a “dangerous combat zone,” and to go immediately to the “humanitarian zone” in the coastal area of Al Mawasi. Likewise, Palestinians at the northern Gaza camp of Jabalia, are told to evacuate to the northwestern Gaza City. |
May 4—*The Schiller Institute and the Fédération des associations d’amitiés Chine-Afrique (FAACA) held a three-hour video conference today on “China-Africa Cooperation in Poverty Reduction Strategy.” The FAACA is a multi-nation association, with an office in Dakar, Senegal. Speakers included Helga Zepp-LaRouche, founder and leader of the Schiller Institute; Assane Mbengue, President of FAACA; His Excellency Ibrahima Sory Sylla, Senegalese Ambassador to China; Zhang Hangbao, First Secretary to His Excellency Xiao Han, Chinese Ambassador to Senegal; Zhang Yun, CEO of SOMETA SA (Senegal’s leading iron and steel company); Edmond Moukala N’Gouemo, UNESCO representative in Ghana, and others. |
April 23—New initiatives in Eurasia this week conform in an exciting way with the “Oasis Plan” approach for economic development and security, concerning especially transportation, water, and power. The “Oasis Plan” concept was put forward in the 1970s by Lyndon LaRouche, statesman and economist, and today is the emergency intervention needed in mobilizing to stop the devastation in Palestine-Israel, and other warfare zones, and to stop the plunge into World War III. |
April 20—Strong reactions of disdain for the United States are coming forth internationally for the shameful sole vote the U.S. cast at the UN Security Council April 18, against the resolution for the State of Palestine to join the UN as a member nation, backed by 12 of the 15 Security Council members (with the U.K. and Switzerland abstaining). This was a special ministerial session, and leaders of over 40 nations from around the world came in person to speak, most all of whom gave perspectives on how moving on Palestinian statehood will contribute to the conditions for ending the carnage in Gaza, open the way for development, and finally provide security in the region. Already, 140 nations are on record for recognizing Palestinian. But Washington said, No. |
April 11—The headline of today’s daily EIR.News is the title of the opening panel of the international online conference Saturday, April 13, sponsored by the Schiller Institute. The second, and concluding panel of the day is titled, “The Oasis Plan: The Physical Foundation for the Development of Southwest Asia.” |
April 6—The United Nations Human Rights Council, at its April 5 session in Geneva, voted up a resolution calling for all nations to end arms shipments to Israel, and related measures. The vote in the 47-member nation council was 28-6, with 13 abstentions. Voting against the resolution were the United States and Germany. The resolution calls for not only investigating Israel for commission of war crimes, but for investigating potential war crimes by all those nations now abetting Israel. |
March 30—This week saw a new extreme of lethal hypocrisy by the United States, unchallenged still by its NATO allies, but clear for all to see, with horror. While U.S. government leaders have spoken out for years demanding the world respect “the rules-based order,” even “the rule of law,” the same leaders this week said this does not apply to any rules Washington chooses to ignore. U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said mid-week that the UN Security Council Resolution passed March 25, is “non-binding,” in its text calling for the Israeli attacks on Gaza to stop, and mass humanitarian aid to begin. The U.S. will continue its military support to Israel, even if the Congress itself has not authorized more funding. |
March 11—We are in an incredibly dangerous situation. Global NATO and echelons of the singular and collective “West” are perpetrating conflict and evil on the scale of mass suffering and death in Ukraine, and many other places, which is at the degree of genocide in Gaza. |
March 5—At the UN General Assembly plenary session March 4, the United States was singled out for condemnation, alongside Israel, for furthering mass death in Gaza. The Assembly was called into informal session to review the “use of veto,” as seen in the UN Security Council in recent months. The focus of attention and opprobrium was the United States’ veto on Feb. 20, of a ceasefire resolution for Gaza, which was the third such veto by the U.S. In introducing the session, UN General Assembly President Ambassador Dennis Francis of Trinidad and Tobago rightly described the situation in Gaza as “catastrophic, unconscionable, shameful.” |
March 1—RT and Sputnik today released a dynamite, leaked recording and transcript of a Feb. 19 exchange among four top German military officials discussing long-range missile operations in Ukraine, and potential attacks on Russian arms depots and the Kerch Strait Bridge connecting Crimea to the Russian mainland as of 2018. The conversation makes clear that the United States, the U.K. and France all have military personnel in Ukraine now, carrying out functions. The discussants confer in detail on options for how the Bundeswehr might carry out tasks related to missiles and training, without appearing to do so. |
Feb. 23—The beginning of the coming week is the deadline for Israel to comply with the Jan. 26 directive of the World Court (UN International Court of Justice) whose sixth and last point of its instruction was that Israel had a month, making it Feb. 26, by which time, to report back on its improvement in the five areas of relieving the conditions of Palestinians in Gaza, and stopping the IDF assault. It will be no surprise if Israel formally snubs the Court, by refusing to provide a report. The world has watched in horror as Israel has intensified every one of its attacks in Gaza—from shelling, to food cut-off, water cut-off, medical cut-off—whose overall status the Court deemed a month ago was “plausible” as genocide. |
Feb. 12—The LaRouche Organization’s excellent new video on “The Oasis Plan—LaRouche’s Solution for the Middle East” provides for world dialogue of the program and method for peace in Palestine and Israel, based on development. The LaRouche Organization in the United States released 14-minute video on Feb. 10, which presents an illustrated update to the “Oasis Plan” approach put forward by the late statesman Lyndon H. LaRouche, Jr. in the 1970s. Had it been implemented at the September 1993 opportunity presented by the Oslo Accords signed between Israel and Palestine, there would be no genocide and world emergency now. But it was sabotaged by the anti-development London-Washington axis of geopolitics. |
Feb. 10—The initiatives underway and in the works around the world, to bring about a ceasefire in Gaza, to provide humanitarian aid—restoration of UNRWA in particular, and to bring a halt to the genocide and lies from Israel, backed by Washington, London and cohorts, are of utmost importance and urgency. This was discussed yesterday by those at the International Peace Coalition, at its 36th weekly online meeting, whose deliberations and initiatives are reported in the accompanying article. |
Feb. 3—Within the first week after the International Court of Justice (World Court) decision for Israel to stop activities in Gaza that are clearly plausible (in legal parlance) as genocide, Israel, the United States, U.K., and a gaggle of backers have escalated both the immediate killing in Palestinian territories, and also regional strife, which can result in world war. The Anglosphere is deploying all deadly means on behalf of their killer “rules-based order”: bombing, bullying at the United Nations, and deliberate cut-off of resources for desperate people. |
Jan. 25—Mid-day at The Hague on Friday, January 26, the decision of the 18 judges will be read out at the International Court of Justice (World Court) in the case brought against Israel by South Africa, to stop Israel’s violation of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide, from Israel’s atrocities in Gaza. Dr. Naledi Pandor, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, will lead her country’s delegation to the Court for the reading. |
Jan. 20—An extraordinary international event took place today, hosted by the Schiller Institute, titled, “2024 and 2074—A New Paradigm for the Next Fifty Years; International Youth Dialogue with Helga Zepp-LaRouche.” The three-hour discussion was a hybrid forum based on a live audience in New York City, with online participants, including in groups, from around the world, for an audience of real-time attendees numbering well over 250. At least 20 countries, representing all continents, were represented, from China to Afghanistan to Chile. |
Jan. 14—Within less than 24 hours of the World Court presentation by South Africa of the case of Israel committing genocide in Gaza, the U.S.A. and U.K. bombed Yemen, which airstrike was repeated by the United States again the next night. U.S. Ambassador to the UN Linda Greenfield-Thomas defended their attacks, telling the UN Security Council yesterday, that the airstrikes “were consistent with international law and in exercise of the UN’s inherent right to self-defense, as reflected by Article 51 of the UN Charter.” |
Jan. 6—The hearing set for Jan. 11-12 this week at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague, on the case filed Dec. 29 by South Africa against Israel for genocide against the Palestinians is a battleground for survival of civilization. |
Dec. 30—The NATO belligerence against Russia using Ukraine as its proxy crossed the red line today when Ukraine deployed NATO weapons (from Czechia) to strike Belgorod, Russia, killing at least 18, and wounding 108 people. The strike took place in mid-afternoon, local time. Cluster munitions were used, and Vampire missiles, made in Czechia. The strike focused on the city center, hitting a number of sites including the medical college of the state university, and the public ice rink in use. |
Dec. 22—Only today did a resolution finally pass the United Nations Security Council, addressed to relieving the catastrophe in Gaza. The resolution does not call for a ceasefire, but only “to create conditions for sustainable cessation of hostilities”—wording pre-approved by the U.S. after days of haggling. Other measures in the 16 points of action address expediting humanitarian aid. The resolution passed 13 in favor, with two abstentions—the U.S. and Russia (for very different reasons). |
Dec. 18—The toll of death and misery rises by the hour in Gaza, with the latest official count of 19,500 dead, dozens of thousands wounded, and over two million suffering. |
Dec. 9—The first of a two-day world online forum, “A New International Security and Development Architecture,” was hosted today by the Central American and Caribbean Critical Thinking Conference (CPCCC), centered in Nicaragua, with powerful presentations and intense discussion addressing five topics. Over the day-long dialogue (with simultaneous interpretation of Spanish into French, English and German) some 250 people from over 15 countries participated, with questions and comments coming in from Belarus to Peru. The second day, in Spanish, will be a full schedule as well. The entire two-day conference will be available in video archive. |
