Friday Questions: 1. What are the implications of the merger of the global Green New Deal with the Great Reset presented yesterday by Prince Charles, Mark Carney, BlackRock's Larry Fink and others, in the context of the COP26 "climate" summit? 2. Is Virginia Gov.-Elect Youngkin a Bush-RINO Republican? 3. Will the Federal Reserve raise interest rates, and what will happen if it does? 4. What are the strategic implications of the Chinese hypersonic missile launch?
For once, Greta Thunberg got it right -- there is a lot of "blah, blah, blah" coming from the COP26 summit. She's wrong, however, when she says there is no action being taken. Yesterday's announcement of a new financial alliance under the direction of former Bank of England Director Carney and former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg is a big step toward consolidating the "Great Reset", designed to establish a global central banker's dictatorship. Their intent is to inflate a new, Green financial bubble -- to benefit the 450 financial firms which have signed up -- while ensuring there will be no credit for the physical, productive sectors of the economy. Their big problem is in getting developing countries to give up their sovereignty and sacrifice their people in return for the crumbs being offered to them to do so.
Nov. 1 -- At a CNN town meeting on October 21, President Joe Biden was asked if the U.S. would come to the aid of Taiwan, if it were attacked by China. His response -- "Yes, we have a commitment to do that" -- set off alarm bells, not only in Beijing, but within his administration, as a spokesman was quickly dispatched to walk back from that answer. But a week later, more bombshells went off, again on CNN, in an interview with Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen. She said she believes that the U.S. and other regional allies would come to the aid of Taiwan if it were attacked. Further, she confirmed the report that a "small unit" of U.S. Army special forces have been deployed on the island to train members of Taiwan's military. She added that while she thinks there can be peaceful relations with China, the threat from the mainland "is increasing every day", as it is becoming more aggressive.
It is dangerous to cling to old beliefs at a moment of global systemic collapse. The belief in "limits to growth" is behind the "climate change" scenarios driving the push to reduce human population, which is the goal of those running the COP26 summit in Glasgow. The ghouls can be outflanked and defeated, provided the opposition to the Green New Deal and Great Reset adopts the strategy developed over fifty years by Lyndon LaRouche. Clinging to old beliefs is what led to the smashing defeat of Democratic Party candidates in Virginia, and possibly in New Jersey as well. The reality of hyperinflation of food and energy prices, supply chain shortages, etc., was of greater concern to the voters, than the spectre of the return of Donald Trump, which Dem "strategists" foolishly believed would lead voters to cast ballots for their candidates!
The FLOP26 opened with the expected hyperbole, with BoJo saying "It's one minute to midnight", i.e. we are running out of time to stop what Joe Biden called "an existential threat to human existence...." But the "debate" over whether there has been warming and what is causing it has not been settled, despite what the COP26 "influencers" so loudly assert. Resistance is building to the devastation which will be unleashed if the "net zero carbon" demand is successfully imposed. Given the rhetoric from leaders about their "profound concern for future generations", why are they not calling for lifting the sanctions imposed by the U.S. and its NATO allies on nations such as Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen and Zimbabwe, sanctions which are killing people now, and threatening millions more lives, especially of children, in the future?
Friday Questions: On the eve of the FLOP26 genocide conference opening in Glasgow, many of you are asking how we can mobilize a population which has submitted to the narratives designed by Tavistock brainwashers to make people cynical and depressed. Two answers: First -- not everyone is submitting, there is deep concern and anger about corruption, inflation, austerity, endless wars, etc. Find those not beaten down, and introduce them to the solutions developed by The LaRouche Organization. Second -- use truth, irony, empathy and love to reach the minds and souls of those paralyzed by fear and impotence. The crash of the system is here, as more and more are realizing. Now is not the time to wallow, or look for a safe zone -- sign up for the Nov. 13-4 Schiller Institute conference to find out more.
As the LaRouche movement has warned for years, energy price hikes are not based on lack of product, but manipulation of markets by traders, working with geopoliticians in government and financial institutions -- such as the infamous Henry Kissinger, coordinator of the 1973 Great Oil Hoax, which began the era of the petro-dollar. The Glasgow COP26 summit is not about stopping "global warming", but convincing you to accept the idea that the era of plenty is over, and you should get used to shortages, high prices, unavailability of products, and a lower standard of living and early death. Join with us to end the fraud of the idea of "limits to growth". Read the Schiller Institute "A Wake-Up Call: The Danger for Mankind Is Not the Climate, but Toleration of a Devious Policy that Uses Climate To Destroy Us!"
Is it really a matter of her fragile health, or has the Queen decided to skip the march of death, disguised as a "climate summit", to save face? With Boris Johnson worried that it will be VERY, VERY tough to get the desired results -- i.e., to arm twist nations to surrender their sovereignty and development goals to achieve "carbon net zero" -- eco-terrorists are preparing to launch a wave of destruction if these goals are not met, under the slogan of defeating "fossil fascism," declaring the development of fossil fuel technology as "steeped in racism"! Meanwhile, the resurrection of British spook Christopher Steele continues, with an appearance on {Sky-TV}, during which he announced he wishes that Daniel Craig, of James Bond movie fame, portray him in a bio-film!
There is a reason why those in the Military Industrial Complex are called "War Hawks" -- because war is their ultimate solution to crises. As they are facing a series of existential crises, they are ramping up the rhetoric of war. Listen to the words of Biden's choice for Ambassador to China, or the German Defense Minister's call to be prepared to use nuclear weapons against Russia! Consider the possibility that the COP26 ``climate" conference becomes the Flop26, and serves as an excuse for launching new waves of eco-terrorism.
On the eve of the globalist Halloween prank called COP26 -- which hopefully will become Flop26 -- Russian President Putin delivered a powerful speech lamenting the failure of nations to use the opportunity of the collapse of the Soviet Union to create a safer world. While defending "human life" and the "family" as "absolute values", and insisting on "sovereignty" as a necessary condition for relations between nation states, he critiques the arrogance of those pushing a unipolar world, and dissects the cultural degradation being imposed on the West by them -- including a sharp criticism of "cancel culture", and the approach to race and gender dominating policy discussion in the West. (Since the western media are not covering Putin's intervention, I am posting a summary of his critique of "wokeness" from our website: Putin: Human Life Over Failed Ideology and Woke ‘Phantasmagoria’ - The LaRouche Organization (nationbuilder.com).)
by: Harley SchlangerOct. 22 -- Since Bill Clinton's election as President in 1992, he and his four immediate successors all campaigned on the need to upgrade and modernize American infrastructure, and each one made a show of trying to pass a bill to do it. Yet a quick overview of the dilapidated state of infrastructure in the U.S. today makes it painfully obvious that each failed to reverse the ongoing decline of the basic platforms of infrastructure serving the economy. Worse, the collapse in most areas has been proceeding at an accelerating rate. This is due not just to the failure of the Presidents, but the role of special interests controlling the Congress -- especially in banking, finance, insurance and real estate, which demand credit directed for speculative investments to bail them out, rather than for physical production -- and the abysmal level of economic discourse throughout the society. The passage by both the House and Senate of President Biden's Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act in August, with a $1 trillion price tag, has provoked much discussion, but will do nothing to reverse the collapse, while its Green initiatives actually will speed up the decline of the U.S. as a manufacturing and agricultural power. Biden apologists have been insisting that, when taken together with his effort to pass a separate $3.5 trillion spending bill as a companion bill, it is the most significant infrastructure overhaul since Franklin Roosevelt's (FDR) New Deal pulled the U.S. out of the Great Depression after 1933. The details tell a different story. First, the much-hyped $1 trillion infrastructure plan only adds $550 billion to what had already been approved. Second, the total is to be parceled out over the next ten years! Third, the companion bill, which includes "energy" spending almost entirely allocated for "green" policies, is in the process of being whittled down, to appease fiscal hawks in both parties, so it can be passed before the Glasgow COP26 summit, to show the Biden administration's commitment to combating climate change. Biden personally lobbied Congressmen on October 21, pleading with them to pass the green spending bill, insisting that he needs this to make a positive show in Glasgow. "The prestige of the United States is on line," he said. "I need this to represent the U.S. overseas."
Friday Questions -- Given that there is no "Climate Emergency", can we collaborate to take power away from the predatory oligarchs, who are using "climate" to destroy civilization? Why aren't more people speaking out against inflation? Is inflation caused by supply-and-demand distortions, like the "Bullwhip Effect?" Why didn't President Trump take down the Federal Reserve?
Vladimir Putin has been outspoken about the idiocy inherent in the "climate change" policies being pushed for the upcoming COP26 summit, which he will not attend. Not surprisingly, Christopher Steele, who fabricated the dossier at the heart of Russiagate, re-emerged on ABC-News, regurgitating his discredited dossier, which falsely implicated Putin and Donald Trump in collusion to rig the 2016 election. Also not surprisingly, the same war hawks who embraced Steele's lies, have delivered emotional eulogies praising Colin Powell, who used a lying dossier -- compiled in part by Steele's former boss, MI6 head Sir Richard Dearlove -- in a speech he delivered to the U.N. in 2003, which was credited with rallying support for the invasion of Iraq.
By Harley Schlanger [This is an edited transcript of a presentation by LaRouche spokesman Harley Schlanger at The LaRouche Organization's Manhattan Project event, on October 9, 2021.] HARLEY SCHLANGER: We are in the midst of a dizzying array of events, which is enough to make the heads of even sober people spin. We have a systemic breakdown, there’s no other way to look at it. You can try to look at different sectors and what’s happening here and there, but if you take it in its totality...we’re in what Lyndon LaRouche described as a systemic breakdown. On the economy, there is inflation, energy shortages, supply chain breakdowns. Secondly, we have the accelerating collapse of infrastructure. Energy is one area, and this is not just collapsing, it’s being deliberately collapsed as part of the Green New Deal. The idea that the climate is changing for the worse, because we are trying to produce enough electricity to take care of 8 billion people on the planet, is crazy. Roads need repair, bridges are collapsing. The public health sector has been badly damaged through underfunding and privatization, as became clear with the COVID pandemic -- we didn’t have adequate healthcare capabilities to take care of the people. It’s all breaking down. Then you have on top of that, the war danger. Just one example: The Wall Street Journal had a report in the last couple of days that the United States has sent about two dozen special forces to train military layers in Taiwan. This was reported right after Joe Biden and Xi Jinping had a conversation in which Biden re-affirmed the traditional policy of the U.S. toward Taiwan, which is that there is one China, and Taiwan is a part of that. Well, why are we putting military people in Taiwan if we recognize that’s part of China? Suppose we heard that the Chinese People’s Liberation Army was training units in Texas, or in Washington state? So, one day Biden re-affirms the One China policy, and then we hear that we’re actually preparing a regime change with military forces there. And of course, the Chinese are rightfully concerned, and pointing out that this is, in a sense, an invasion. Add to this the AUKUS pact -- the just-announced Australia-United Kingdom-U.S. military pact, Asian NATO, the pivot to Asia. All of this is a pre-war targeting of China, based on the idea that somehow we can contain the second largest economy and the largest population center on the Earth through deploying military forces in the Pacific. Demanding Poverty For The Planet What has also been exposed is a moral and intellectual problem—depraved indifference. The United States is conducting policies that are killing children in Syria, in Yemen. The World Food Program is reporting that 4 million Afghan children could starve to death this winter. Where is the outcry about this? Why are we not moving to rally forces and move goods that are necessary to protect people? Not to mention Haiti, which is not too far from the United States, where we’re turning our back on that country, which has been devastated by natural disasters and outside interference. Then you have the spectacle of the U.S. Congress pretending to deal with problems, and I won’t even get into that.... And then finally, we have massive disinformation. We have lying narratives which are flooding our print and visual media, and outright censorship. We now hear that Google is moving to limit what can be said on its platforms about climate change. Soon, they will be censoring anyone who argues that the science behind [man-made] climate change is a fraud. All of this this is a prelude to the next phase of the destruction of the Western economies, which is announced in a book by Klaus Schwab, the director of the World Economic Forum, the Davos group. The book is Stakeholder Capitalism; A Global Economy That Works for Progress, People, and Planet.
While the mainstream media is focused on censoring real news, and increasing polarization around hot-button issues, there are significant strategic developments occurring: ---Meetings of Afghanistan's neighbors to help build an economy, to prevent a dissolution into civil war, starvation and drug production; ---China's development of a hypersonic, low-orbit glide vehicle, which caught western intelligence by surprise; ---a new report on how wild liquidity pumping by central banks is behind accelerating inflation, and how it benefits 1.1% of the population; ---Putin blaming Europe's leaders for causing energy shortages and soaring prices, on the eve of the next climate "summit", COP26.
All the symptoms of a systemic economic breakdown -- shortages, inflationary prices, the failure of institutions to address the explicit dangers, while pushing for a global central banker's Green dictatorship -- are signs of the WEAKNESS of the Davos billionaires who think they are the Kings of the Universe. In their frantic pursuit of their utopia, with its drastic reduction of human population, they have planted the seeds of their own defeat. What's needed to defeat them is a strategy. Join with the Schiller Institute to rally the millions of those suffering from the policies of the establishment, to put them out of business!
On September 9, the White House reported that President Joe Biden and China's President Xi Jinping held a lengthy, substantive phone conversation. The U.S. initiated the call, after months of no contact between the two leaders, a period of time in which tensions escalated significantly, especially around Taiwan and the South China Sea. The White House described the interaction with Xi as a "broad, strategic discussion", and the Chinese said the call ended with a pledge to keep up "in-depth communication between the leaders of China and the U.S." Biden said that he wants no "new Cold War", and he sent National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan to hold a follow-up meeting with China's top diplomat, Yang Jiechi, in Zurich on October 6. Both sides confirmed there is a plan in the works to convene a virtual Biden-Xi summit before the end of the year. Of note was a comment by Biden the day before the Sullivan-Yang meeting, that the U.S. will "abide by the Taiwan agreement", which was interpreted to mean the "One-China policy", which the U.S. has supported since diplomatic relations were restored in 1979. Under this and subsequent agreements, the U.S. acknowledges that Taiwan is part of China, and has had no troops permanently stationed on the island since then. However, the tension has been ramped up, with White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki insisting that Chinese flights into Taiwan's air defense identification zone (ADIZ) -- which have increased dramatically since the beginning of October -- are "provocative military activities", even though they do not violate international law. Secretary of State Blinken called these flights a "provocation and potentially destabilizing", and demanded they "need to stop these actions." Meanwhile, the U.S., the U.K. and France continue to send warships through the Taiwan Strait, as part of a broader containment strategy, which includes open discussion of an "Asian NATO," and the consolidation of an new anti-China security pact, the AUKUS agreement between the U.S., the U.K. and Australia, featuring the sale of U.S. nuclear subs to Australia. While all parties in the AUKUS pact insist that the agreement does not target China, deployment of a fleet of nuclear subs based out of Australia makes up for the lack of viable land-based launch sites as part of the military containment of China. Numerous American military officials have stated that such alliances and joint deployments are necessary, as they believe a war with China is becoming more likely. Admiral Philip Davidson, the commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific command, told a Congressional hearing in March that he thinks a Chinese invasion of Taiwan could occur within the next six years. Taiwan's Defense Minister Chiu Kuo-cheng said last week that he thinks China may mount an invasion by 2025! That U.S. military deployment is being shaped by a slight amendment to classic British geopolitical concepts regarding "Eurasia", to cohere with the "Pivot to Asia" policy first mooted by President Obama, was evident in a speech delivered by Major General Brad Gericke, the U.S. Army director for strategy, planning and policy, as reported in the Oct. 12 "Breaking Defense." Gericke said, "I would argue that the land domain is the essential domain...it is Asia that is the prize...And that's where... economic, military, social information power is going to primarily emanate from over the next century." Adding to the tension was a report in the {Wall Street Journal}, later confirmed by a Pentagon official speaking with AFP, that American special forces have been training Taiwan Army and Navy personnel during the last year. The Chinese responded sharply to this, warning that if fighting breaks out, the Americans will be among the first targets. There is thus a wide gulf between Biden's emphasis on diplomacy to avoid a "new Cold War", and the actions and statements coming from U.S. military officials, which indicate many of them have a strong belief that a war is coming. In Congressional hearings in the aftermath of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, it was evident that Biden's commitment to end the war was not shared by top Pentagon and intelligence officials, or by the vast majority in Congress in both parties. This divergence is a legitimate concern for the leaders of China, and adds to the danger of war breaking out due to "miscalculation".
What is the significance of the debate as to whether inflation is "transitory"? It is an academic ruse, to avoid discussing the real cause, the hyperinflationary liquidity pumping to pave the way for the Great Reset? Why is China supporting COP26? Its actions, including increased electricity production from burning coal, shows it is not complying with COP26 demands.
Mark Carney, Climate Change Tsar for the U.N., and former Director of the Bank of England, laid out in an Oct. 12 interview what the Green New Deal is. He said it will require between $100 and $150 TRILLION to be spent over 30 years in new "green" technology. To do this, he said, requires a change in financial "plumbing". He is demanding a "Reset" that will give private banks and financial institutions control over the credit policies of nations; further, the move in this direction is already driving up energy prices, by cutting credit to producers, and pouring liquidity into speculators. As stated in the {Economist}, the mouthpiece for the City of London, "Get used to it." But Carney admitted there is resistance, citing China, Indonesia and South Africa as three who will fight it. Join us to defeat this insane project of the globalist banksters.
While the Great Reset/Green New Deal is poised for an inglorious collapse, there is a different "reset" underway, based on Eurasian integration. While this has been at the center of nightmares among the imperial geopoliticians tied to the City of London, and the speculative swindlers of Wall Street, for more than a century, there is no reason why the citizens of the U.S. and Europe should fear it. Instead, it represents an opportunity for the "West" -- should we choose to give up wars, austerity and the central banker's dictatorship -- to participate in projects which would provide great benefits for U.S. producers, and fuel an industrial, agricultural and trade bonanza. Download your copy of "The Coming U.S. Economic Miracle on the New Silk Road", and join our mobilization to implement it. Your participation will make the globalists most unhappy!
Two days of meetings between U.S. and Taliban officials in Doha were described as "candid and professional", but the U.S. has still not agreed to release funds being held by the U.S. Treasury that rightfully belong to the people of Afghanistan. There is no time to waste in providing humanitarian aid, as hunger is stalking millions, including children. Along with humanitarian aid, the U.S. should join with others in a broad reconstruction program, beginning with building necessary infrastructure. Peaceful cooperation in such projects, rather than military buildup and threats, is the best transition out of the failed policy of regime change and endless wars.
It's no coincidence that governments are falling, energy and food prices are soaring, new wars are being planned, and riots are being organized: We are in a systemic breakdown crisis, and those responsible for it are running psychological warfare operations to polarize the vast majority of people, to keep them from uniting around a policy to bankrupt the globalists, and go back to the principles of physical economy, as presented by Lyndon LaRouche in his "Four Laws". Helga Zepp-LaRouche and Guus Berkhout of Climate Intelligence have issued a "Wake Up Call," which must be circulated everywhere -- don't allow your friends and fellow citizens to be manipulated by fake narratives pushed by those who are organizing these crises. They are vulnerable and can be defeated.
Inflation, breakdown in supply chains, etc., are real. But they are only a reflection of a broader dynamic, which Lyndon LaRouche called a Systemic Breakdown Crisis". This is being worsened by the push for "Green" policies, and the "Great Reset." Friday Question: What do you make of the Facebook whistleblower, who charged that Facebook was aware of the "toxic impact" of Instagram, and the algorithms which promote "extremism" and polarization? The narrative emerging is that the company prioritizes profit over public good --No Kidding, but that is the modus operandi of the entire neoliberal system: So, why is this coming out now?
The announcement of an agreement to hold a virtual bilateral summit between Presidents Biden and Xi before the end of the year could be a sign of calmer heads prevailing at a moment of increasing tension between the U.S. and China. The provocations regarding Taiwan and the South China Sea have added to the danger that war between the two nations is possible. What if, instead, there could be an agreement for the U.S. to join with China, to use the Belt-and-Road Initiative to reconstruct war-torn Afghanistan, through collaboration on joint development projects? The offer from China for that to occur is on the table -- could we be on the verge of a new era of peaceful cooperation?
Oct. 1 -- In an article posted on September 26 on Yahoo News, reporters Zach Dorfman, Sean Naylor and Michael Isikoff wrote that plans were discussed and drafted in 2017 by CIA officials to silence Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, by kidnapping him and/or assassinating him. (1.) They report that the planning was catalyzed by CIA Director Mike Pompeo, who had an "obsession" with Assange and WikiLeaks. The Yahoo News article confirms in large part reporting from Max Blumenthal of the Gray Zone, published in May 2020, which focused on the CIA's use of Sheldon Adelson's private security team in spying on Assange while he was in asylum at the Ecuadorian embassy in London. (2.) It also confirms the concerns and fears of many committed to free him from a British prison, that the harsh treatment he is receiving there, or his extradition to stand trial in the U.S., are intended to kill him.By 2017, Assange had been living in Ecuador’s Embassy in London for five years. At the time, Ecuadorian officials had begun efforts to grant Assange diplomatic status, to give him cover to leave the Embassy and fly to Moscow, to serve in Ecuador’s Mission there. The authors report that some senior officials inside the CIA and Trump Administration conferred on “options for how to assassinate him, as well spy on his WikiLeaks associates and steal their devices.” Assange had been watched by U.S. intelligence agencies for years, but plans to stop him were spurred by WikiLeaks’ ongoing publication of highly sensitive CIA hacking tools known as “Vault 7.” The CIA believed this revelation caused the largest data loss in CIA history. The authors quote an unidentified source that Pompeo was made completely furious by this event. Pompeo, in his first speech on April 13, 2017 as CIA Director, said: “WikiLeaks walks like a hostile intelligence service and talks like a hostile intelligence service, and has encouraged its followers to find jobs at the CIA in order to obtain intelligence. It’s time to call out WikiLeaks for what it really is: a non-state hostile intelligence service often abetted by state actors like Russia.” By identifying WikiLeaks as an "intelligence service", operations against it could be categorized as "offensive counterintelligence," as action against another spy service. This would allow them to avoid filing a "finding" to authorize covert action, which would have brought this to President Trump's attention. Despite efforts to link Trump to the actions against Assange, the reporters could find no evidence of his involvement. The report claims to be based on conversations with more than 30 former U.S. officials—8 of whom described CIA plans to abduct Assange. The report declares, "It was a campaign spearheaded by Pompeo that bent important legal strictures, which may have jeopardized any prosecution of Assange, and risked a damaging episode in the United Kingdom...." They note there was opposition to the proposed operations from both National Security Agency officials, and members of Trump's legal team. Eventually, those arguing for an approach based on the courts, rather than espionage or covert action, won the policy debate. On April 11, 2019, Ecuador’s new government revoked Assange’s asylum and evicted him; British police arrested him, and the U.S. government unsealed its initial indictment of Assange the same day, seeking his extradition from Britain. Pompeo And Russiagate The Yahoo article comes at an inconvenient time for Pompeo, who is highly ambitious and is planning to run for President. His efforts at damage control are instead exposing him as a liar and a hypocrite, while disproving his assertion that he was a Trump loyalist throughout his term as CIA Director and Secretary of State. For example, in an interview with conservative talk show host Glenn Beck, he attacked one of the authors, Michael Isikoff, correctly identifying him as a “big Russiagate hoax perpetrator.” Isikoff was the first to peddle the dossier produced by former MI6 operative Christopher Steele, which was used by Trump opponents in the intelligence community, Democrats and media to assert, falsely, that Trump was aided in his election campaign by Vladimir Putin and Russian hackers, who allegedly provided the documents they hacked from Clinton campaign and Democratic National Committee (DNC) computers to WikiLeaks. Publication of those documents exposed corrupt actions of the Clinton campaign in winning the Democratic Party nomination. However, unmentioned by either Pompeo or Beck is that Pompeo, after receiving a briefing in October 2017 by NSA whistleblower Bill Binney—in which Binney presented evidence that there was no Russian hack—did nothing to expose the Russiagate hoax. Though he asked Binney if he would meet with NSA and FBI officials to present his analysis, Binney confirmed that there was never any follow-up by Pompeo. Instead, Pompeo's spokesman said, “The Director stands by, and has always stood by, the January 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment,” which accused Russia of hacking DNC computers. By allowing this fraud to go unchallenged by the intelligence community, the Trump presidency was significantly undermined in his efforts to break with the the anti-Russian geopolitics of Obama, and instead forge a friendly, cooperative relationship with Russia and Putin -- thus leaving Trump captive to the Military Industrial Complex operators served by Pompeo, and unable to end the "endless wars", which had been a central theme of his campaign and his presidency. Further, in the interview with Beck, he did not exactly refute the Yahoo story. He said that while he and Trump were often accused of being engaged in "crazy things", he stated that "we [meaning him and Trump] were very worried about the fact that we had bad actors...stealing very sensitive things," referring to Assange and WikiLeaks. This comment implies that Trump was in the discussion process with Pompeo and his collaborators, something which the authors were unable to confirm. In a later interview with Megyn Kelly, he repeatedly stuck his foot in his mouth. For example, he asserted that the charge that he was drafting a plan to assassinate Assange is false, saying "We're not permitted by U.S. law to conduct assassinations." Investigative journalist Caitlin Johnstone points out, inconveniently for the lying Pompeo, that the Trump administration assassinated Iran's top military commander, Qassem Soleimani, in a drone strike, which he praised. Pompeo said of that assassination, "President Trump and those of us in his national security team are re-establishing deterrence, real deterrence, against the Islamic Republic of Iran." This coheres with a pledge he made in an October 2017 speech at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies -- a neocon think tank whose funders include Sheldon Adelson -- when he said of the CIA under his direction, "We're going to become a much more vicious agency." He also told Kelly that he believes that those who were sources for the Yahoo story "should all be prosecuted for speaking about classified activity inside the Central Intelligence Agency", a threat consistent with his efforts to stamp out freedom of the press in his obsessive desire to silence Assange and Wikileaks. As for his efforts to portray himself as loyal to Trump, he revealed a great deal, when Kelly asked him whether he agreed with Trump that Assange had been treated "very badly." "No," he replied. "Assange treated the U.S. and its people very badly." This release of this story coincides with a turbulent moment in U.S. foreign/strategic policy, following the ending by the Biden administration of the war in Afghanistan, and while negotiations are underway to remove U.S. troops from Iraq and Syria. There is an intense debate underway, with the war hawks -- including Pompeo -- using the chaos resulting from the rapid Taliban takeover to question whether ending the war was a mistake. Typical of Pompeo's history as a liar and a Sophist, he has joined those who said the decision to leave was right -- after all, he was the chief negotiator with the Taliban -- but the execution was flawed, and the U.S. should have left troops in place. It is useful for the purpose of extricating the U.S. from the era of endless wars that this story of Pompeo's murderous outlook has been published. However, in the absence of a plan to work with other nations to provide an economic development perspective for Afghanistan, the desperate humanitarian conditions facing the Afghan people will lead to chaos, playing into the hands of those who are advocates of permanent war. The Yahoo story should serve as the beginning of a full accounting of those who wish to use the potential chaos to defend the geopolitical outlook behind the endless wars. And instead of punishing Assange for his exposure of the war crimes of those protected by Pompeo, charges against him should be dropped, and a full exoneration should be extended to him. Footnotes1.)
