Only a New International Economic Development and Security Architecture Can Guarantee Lasting Peace

June 24, 2025 (EIRNS)—Only a primitive cave boy or René Descartes would attempt to explain the relationship between Earth and Jupiter based on the observations of Jupiter from the nighttime sky, and trying to determine what about the Earth was causing Jupiter to make such peculiar motions and loop-de-loops in the air, and why it would disappear from time to time.

Similarly, although we often find ourselves speaking of Iran-Israel, or Russia-Ukraine, the reality is that neither of these wars is based on pair-wise relationships between these nations, but the relationships between these nations must be located in the system of relations on the planet as a whole.

In his December 19, 2004 paper, “The Dialogue of Eurasian Civilizations: Earth’s Next Fifty Years,” Lyndon LaRouche wrote, “The key to all understanding of the modern world history of more than three centuries to date, is the recognition of the essential, true fact, that the history of the world as a whole, since no later than the February 1763 triumph of Lord Shelburne’s British East India Company, has been shaped by the continued, actually globally imperial power of an Anglo-Dutch Liberal system. Yet most of the world today, foolishly, pretends, as if politely, not to notice this plainly visible fact—this veritable elephant standing and trumpeting, unnoticed, in the middle of the honeymoon couple’s bed—and its profound practical implications for every part of our world as a whole, still today.”

This is why neither of these wars can be ended, nor any other wars on the planet, nor starvation, nor poverty will be ended within the prevailing paradigm.

The cause of these tragedies is a false view of the nature of man and man’s relationship to the universe as a whole, and the willingness of the Western nations, including the United States, to go along with the British Imperial outlook.

The so-called “peace movement” has been a failure. Unless one understands that there is no such thing as “pairwise interaction,” but that mankind as a whole will either progress or regress, one cannot resolve any of the existential threats we now encounter.

According to Elliott Roosevelt, his father, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, was very clear that unless the British colonial system were abolished, starting with granting every nation on the planet its sovereignty and economic independence, another world war was a foregone conclusion.

We now know that not only was that true, but also that Winston Churchill was already planning the next world war before Franklin Roosevelt’s body was in the grave, and before World War II had ended.

This is why Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche has insisted that humanity will only be out of danger of self-annihilation when we finally reject the British legacy, and embrace a new global architecture of security and economic development, not a global British Empire, but an order in which the sovereignty of each nation is respected, and the right of all people to economic development is upheld.

Given the legacy of the American Revolution, nothing would be more natural than for the United States to join the new paradigm represented by the Global South, but most Americans are unaware of that crucial distinction between the intention of our Republic and the British Imperial order. We have a job to do!

Part of that job, in the immediate term, is to spread the alarm about the potential for things to spiral into nuclear war, even now, with the fragile ceasefire in place. Therefore the mass distribution of the leaflet, “Will There Be Thermonuclear Fireworks by the Fourth of July?” is an important flank and must be continued.

The International Peace Coalition Friday meetings are a crucial component of the needed dialogue among people of goodwill, and the upcoming July 12-13 Berlin Schiller Institute Conference will be the second part of an extraordinary process of first recognizing that the British elephant is in the bed, and then doing what is needed to remove it.
