April 30, 2025 (EIRNS)—It is hard to avoid the reality that we are witness to a full-scale, systemic breakdown crisis underway in the West.
British geopolitics, including the deployment of terrorists, threatens to detonate yet another war, this time in the India-Pakistan theater—where both countries are nuclear powers and are openly threatening to use those weapons.
The entire peninsula of Iberia, a land area nearly the size of Texas, was thrown into complete lack of electrical power for almost 24 hours on April 28, because Spain has most aggressively adopted the EU’s clinically insane energy policies of full reliance on “renewable”—i.e., intermittent and undependable—energy sources with the lowest possible energy flux densities. Germany and all of the EU are following close behind.
And President Trump continues to insist on a tariff policy which is predictably sharply increasing inflation and shutting down factories in the U.S.; leading to rising defaults on loans issued by banks at home and abroad; and declaring economic war on the very countries on which the U.S. physical economy most depends—in particular China.
Worse still, the dominant political Establishments in both the United States and Europe are adamantly refusing to admit that their policies have failed miserably, let alone consider options to solve the crises. As Schiller Institute founder Helga Zepp-LaRouche stated in a policy discussion on April 28, “it’s very clear that the entire war danger right now comes from the inability, or unwillingness, of the Establishments of the West … [to] recognize the failure of these policies and correct them by simply replacing them with the correct policies,” such as those being promoted by the BRICS and other nations of the Global South, that are intent on putting an end to 500 years of colonialism with science-driven development.
We are also witness to the U.S. government continuing to enable the genocide underway in Gaza, just as Joe Biden did, this time arguing before the International Court of Justice in favor of the Netanyahu government’s “right” to banish UNRWA—the major source of organized food and other aid to starving Palestinians—from Gaza and the West Bank.
But to “bear witness unto the truth” means responsibility to act.
And that is what the Schiller Institute—and the International Peace Coalition which it initiated in May 2023—will make its urgent agenda at its 100th consecutive weekly meeting this Friday, May 2. That meeting will kick off the IPC’s next drive to place a discussion of LaRouche’s Oasis Plan at the center of the deliberations surrounding the upcoming June 2-4 United Nations Conference demanding a “Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine.” According to the UN’s convening resolution, the conference will be held in New York City and “will adopt an action-oriented outcome document … to urgently chart an irreversible pathway towards the peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine and the implementation of the two-State solution.”
“We have to stop the genocide,” Zepp-LaRouche insisted, “and for that we need a breakthrough.” The approach to defeating British geopolitics and achieving peace through development that is taken in LaRouche’s Oasis Plan for Southwest Asia, is exemplary of the global policies that must be adopted in the West to get it off its current, accelerating trajectory towards a systemic breakdown.
Join the IPC’s 100th meeting this Friday, to redouble our action for peace and development. And register to attend and help build the Schiller Institute’s May 24-25 conference, “A Beautiful Vision for Humanity in Times of Great Turbulence!”
