Feb. 8, 2025 (EIRNS)—Much of the world is currently reeling from and reacting to the actions of President Trump—but don’t be fooled: Trump is an effect, not a cause, of an ongoing, monumental shift in the course of human history, the outcome of which is very much undetermined. What is certain is that the era of geopolitics and colonialism is over and the varied forces at play are intersecting and interacting in ways which cannot be predicted based on a simple interpretation of events.
What will determine whether the human species survives this transformation, morally or otherwise, is whether or not we can force a shift in the direction of policy of the United States away from acting like the world hegemon and into win-win collaboration for a new system of peaceful economic development for all nations, a system in coherence with natural law and reflective of human goodness.
In that context, what happens in Gaza will be a test of our species’ moral fitness to survive. The insanity of Trump’s Gaza plan, which has been rightly denounced by most of the world, must be replaced by support for the Oasis Plan and a two-state solution, and that in time for the planned UN Conference on Palestine in June. If a policy to create a new economic development potential in the region for the benefit of all people living there, as proposed in the Oasis Plan, is not implemented, many, including many Israelis, rightly fear that the current ceasefire deal will quickly break down. If, on the other hand, the Oasis Plan and a two-state solution is adopted, Gaza could quickly become an exemplar for humanity’s commitment to a new, pro-human system which recognizes the value and creative potential of each human being.
What can make this possible?
We must mobilize as if our lives depended on it to build a mass movement for a positive solution, for a New Paradigm, in the United States and nations of the West. Dismantling the “liars’ bureau” inside the U.S. intelligence agencies will be a critical part of freeing U.S. policymaking and thinking from its servitude to imperial interests, hence the urgency that the U.S. Senate confirm Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence, a vote set for Monday, Feb. 10. All concerned citizens and people of goodwill should flood the Senate with calls demanding that their representatives vote for her confirmation.
Don’t get caught in the whiplash of reacting to “good” and “bad” events (ending the war in Ukraine, good! Denouncing South Africa for calling out Israel’s genocide, bad!); stay the course. History is made by steadfast leadership of individuals who know what must be done and are determined to make the principled solutions for the advancement of all humankind the law of the land.
