In the background of the United States shamelessly honoring Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, a genocidal war criminal whose speech even aroused Rep. Nancy Pelosi of all people to label it as “the worst speech from any foreign leader,” the Chinese have fulfilled a much needed role in bringing diplomacy back on the table.

First, in Beijing, 14 factions of the Palestinian resistance—including Fatah and Hamas—came to an agreement to have a unified approach in establishing a future Palestinian state and bringing peace to the region with Israel and other nations as partners.

Second, right off the heels of the meeting with the Palestinian factions, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba to discuss negotiations with Russia. Kuleba noted that Ukraine had studied the proposal laid out by China and Brazil, and that “Ukraine is ready and willing to engage in dialogue and negotiations with Russia … aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace.”

These two hopeful, yet sudden diplomatic initiatives are also subsumed within the global peace mission of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who toured Moscow, Kiev, Beijing, and Washington D.C. on behalf of the greater interest of Europe in avoiding a direct conflict with Russia in Ukraine.

Such dramatic moves on the part of the Global Majority, led by the BRICS, SCO, and other multilateral institutions cannot be missed on the part of the collapsing trans-Atlantic sector. Schiller Institute Chairwoman Helga Zepp-LaRouche addressed how individuals in the United States and elsewhere, who are in despair regarding the war danger and physical-economic collapse, must act to capitalize on the interventions of China and other sane countries:

“I have issued a call for something I call a “Council of Reason”: This is the idea that we need, urgently, some people, mostly of an older generation who have been in government in different countries, who have been in high positions, in the military, in civil service, in art, culture, science, who have some important contributions to resolve this present world crisis, and I have called that people should help us to find these people, all over the world, and create something which I have preliminarily called the Council of Reason…”

“I think we really have to look out for any moral and intellectual resource humanity has produced so far. That would be my question for all of you.”

Beyond diplomacy, China has recently announced its intention to develop an industrial prototype fusion reactor by 2035, and the first commercial production of fusion energy by 2050. A Council of Reason can be formed, now, by morally concerned citizens to avert thermonuclear war by creating a new, just security and development architecture. Such an architecture will require the economic development of all nations, with a crash program to bring the miraculous benefits of commercial fusion energy to over 8 billion people. This will be taken up by EIR’s Bill Jones, who will also be joined by LaRouche spokesman Harley Schlanger.
