May 1—Despite over 1,600 arrests, dozens and perhaps hundreds of suspensions and expulsions of students from universities, and a number of instances of incendiary police violence—such as at Emory University and now Washington University at St. Louis—the protests at U.S. university campuses against the unending genocide in Gaza are continuing and expanding. They are the voice of morality in a world at razor’s edge of a descent into thermonuclear war.
