While more and more of the so-called Global South asserts its right to develop and get free from the colonial yoke over the recent centuries, the only way for the US and Europe to have any role in the world going forward is if we revive our previous policies of development over financial speculation.
An outstanding opportunity awaits if the forces of the West today, currently focused on "isolating" Russia and China over rumors of "democracy," instead focus on collaboration in the effort to end underdevelopment worldwide. In the face of increasing tensions, conflict, and crises such as the drug cartels running huge flows of migrants internationally, only this kind of global collaboration towards a common purpose can work.
