July 2—Last week, we warned you to expect a flood of propaganda about the failed mutiny by the so-called Wagner Group in Russia. The Anglophile media did not disappoint. The Comedy Central of Russophobia, MSNBC, hosted a panel discussion Sunday on the "Inside with Jen Psaki" show, featuring a stellar line-up of America's most loathsome neocons, including former Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul, "former" CIA agent and current congresswoman Elissa Slotkin, the ubiquitous Nancy Pelosi, and the vituperative Atlantic staff writer Anne Applebaum, along with Jen Psaki, continuing in her interchangeable roles as Biden administration spokesperson and MSNBC host. They all sang from the same page: that whatever it was that happened with the Wagner mutiny simply demonstrates that Putin is weak, and we must redouble our efforts to Regime Change him and sabotage Russia as our geopolitical competitor.
The following day, Marcia Merry Baker cautioned on the LaRouche Organization website that such hysterical, triumphalist propaganda has consequences: It's Time to 'fear Armageddon.' She presented what more sober leaders are saying around the world about the palpable threat of nuclear war if NATO continues on the warpath.
But it is extremely important to keep in mind that in the world outside the Anglosphere, an entirely different dynamic is proceeding at an accelerating speed. As Harley Schlanger reminded us on Wednesday, the reality for the majority of mankind is the rapid consolidation of a new global financial situation, led by institutions such as the BRICS. This new financial system is predicated on the idea that "development is the road to peace."
Leaders from the Global South are not unaware of their growing leverage in the world situation. Following the success of the African Peace Initiative for Ukraine, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa attended the Summit for a New Global Financial Pact in Paris at the end of last week. This was a typical Global North affair, intended to manage the South and keep it subservient by lecturing those nations about the mortal danger of Climate Change, and, by association, any form of development in the South. Imagine the surprise of hosting President Emmanuel Macron when Ramaphosa pointed out that the coffee-and-donut money that is always promised to the former colonies never materializes, so this time, why not try something different: why not build the Grand Inga Dam, which would be the largest hydroelectric dam in the world, almost double the size of China's Three Gorges Dam. This proposal exemplifies the new, optimistic audacity of the leaders of the formerly enslaved nations.
The frenzied drive for a new world war is the response by the oligarchs to this tendency, which threatens their autocratic "Rules-Based Order." They are incapable of countering it with ideas and policies; they can only offer the threat of global conflagration, hoping to bully the rest of the world back into line.
The choice is clear, but mankind is walking a tightrope as long as the matter remains undecided. The situation demands lucid thinking by all of us; we suggest that you visit the LaRouche Organization website frequently, and listen to Harley Schlanger's daily updates as an antidote to the proverbial "fog of war."
