June 24—As we write this, a dramatic and dangerous situation has unfolded in Russia. Little is known at this time about an apparent failed mutiny by the so-called Wagner Group, but if it turns out that there was influence from Western governments in any way, the danger of a nuclear conflict has escalated even further. The reader should be prepared for a torrent of disinformation and "spin" from the corporate media in the coming days, and we suggest that you visit the LaRouche Organization website frequently, and listen to Harley Schlanger's daily updates as an antidote to the proverbial "fog of war."
The Wagner mutiny came hot on the heels of the dramatic failure of Ukraine's vaunted "counteroffensive," which was analyzed by Harley Schlanger in his daily update on Friday. The crazed and frantic Zelensky regime, supervised and directed by NATO neocons such as the odious Victoria Nuland, has explored other desperate measures: the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam, which, as was the case with the Nordstream pipeline terror bombing, they attempted to blame on Russia; and the implicit threat, repeated throughout the week, that they will carry out a similar attack on the Zaporozhye Nuclear Plant, planning to make the standard claim that "Russia did it," in order to justify demands for greater funding and the extremely dangerous possibility of direct involvement by NATO forces.
These perilous developments add to the urgency of the work that the LaRouche Organization and its allies are doing, to unite a nascent peace movement in Europe and North America, with the increasingly emboldened voices of the Global South.
This week, Helga Zepp-LaRouche was interviewed on China's global CGTN network (available here), on the significance of Chinese Premier Li Qiang's recent visit to France and Germany, in the context of intensive pressure from the "Atlanticists" for Europe to pursue a policy of decoupling or "de-risking" from China. In response to another participant, she elaborated on the importance of China's peace proposal for the NATO-Russia war in Ukraine.
Zepp-LaRouche also participated on June 22 in a seminar titled "International Xinjiang Modernization Drive from a Global Perspective," sponsored by several groups. The meeting was addressed by a number of luminaries including Hussein Askary, who is EIR's Arabic language editor and leader of Sweden’s “Schiller Institute Belt and Road Institute”, Deputy Minister of Economy for Afghanistan, Dr. Abdul Latif Nazari, and Pakistani Minister of State, Romina Khurshid Alam. The conference received extensive coverage in the Pakistan Observer.
Following her successful webcast from last week, where Helga Zepp-LaRouche discussed why Kennedy's vision for a fundamentally new international policy is today taking shape among the majority of nations in the world, a significant speech was given by Democratic pre-candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in which he addressed some of the same issues and ideas. This and complementary developments were discussed yesterday in a commentary by Jason Ross.
In her webcast from this week, Zepp-LaRouche discussed the the escalating peace efforts around the world, and why “It is more urgent than ever to put a new international security architecture on the agenda." Mrs. Zepp-LaRouche was also interviewed by both China's Global Times and Russia's TASS, reflecting the growing role of the LaRouche movement in uniting the forces of peace around the world.
The Schiller Institute’s International Peace Coalition held a meeting on Friday, June 23, which drew together 30 representatives of ten or more pro-peace organizations from around the world for a two-and-a-half-hour discussion, addressing the increasingly urgent need to bring together the diverse international pro-peace organizations to stop the increasing danger of Nuclear War.
