One of the principal reasons for the assassination of John F. Kennedy was his determination to work for peace with the Soviet Union. After his June 10, 1963 "Peace Speech" at American University, he was working toward this objective, with a special focus on ending the U.S. military role as an imperial enforcer in Vietnam. In seeking a strategy for peace, he had to face fierce opposition from the Military-Industrial Complex, as well as the Cold War mentality of the population. You cannot win this fight through "cabinet warfare," but only through a campaign to win over a significant portion of the population to look beyond war as a solution -- precisely the task we face today, to build what Helga Zepp-LaRouche has called a "new security and development architecture."
