Nov. 9—On the night of Nov. 8, as the elections in the United States were drawing to a close, Russia’s ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov posted an article on his Telegram channel which was a bucket of cold water which should draw every American up short. Antonov warned of the imminent danger of a direct clash between the nuclear superpowers, and called out the United States and NATO for using Kiev to “drag the United States and NATO directly into the conflict. To pit the nuclear powers against each other,” Antonov wrote.
