June 28—Between the inherent impossibility of a Ukrainian “victory,” the painful economic devastation caused by the collapse of the prevailing trans-Atlantic financial system and economic paradigm, and the demonstration of a possible new paradigm evidenced most recently in the recent BRICS-Plus meeting, an outbreak of sanity is possible, and a new strategic and development architecture for the world is a possibility!
As NATO gathers for its Madrid summit, CNN itself has been forced to admit that private discussions in the White House acknowledge just how badly the Ukraine war is going for NATO. Leading into the summit, the Turkish president’s office has made a clear statement that while some nations seek to use the Ukraine conflict as a means of weakening and harming Russia, Turkey has sought and continues to seek a negotiated settlement to bring the military operation to an end.
What will the future bring?
Pompous NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg declares Russia and China to be threats to NATO “values” and the “rule of law.” Insane laws and business decisions are targeting China over Xinjiang. Michelle Bachelet, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, was attacked — by institutions crying crocodile tears — for insufficiently denouncing China after her trip to that region. What will be the response by those pious defenders of human rights to her Commission’s report that a decade of conflict in Syria has claimed the lives of nearly 307,000 Syrian civilians?
There is a limit to hypocrisy, to the power of a dying paradigm that is all stick and no carrot.
There is a time in the affairs of human life that great changes can be realized, through dedicated efforts, in what may seem to be a moment.
