The nations of the Anglosphere, especially the European Union, are now in an “existential crisis” of their own making. As their real economies shrink, and even implode, the demands for senseless imperial warfare against Russia and China expand. The unpayable debt of their doomed quadrillion-dollar “financial casino” monetary system increases their desperation. The destruction of the Nordstream pipeline, an attack on both Germany and Russia, shows what may next be done to the infrastructure projects of the Belt and Road Initiative, even at the risk of thermonuclear war.
The global South, and the rest of the world, look on, more and more convinced that no good can come of this. As the ancient ruins of empires past silently attest, the world is not governed by the hubris of the deluded, no matter the apparent extent of their military and financial power.
Truth-telling observers of the military campaign in eastern Ukraine, and even some spokesmen for NATO-related agencies, have made it clear that the tide of battle has turned against the madmen of Kiev. While none can say for certain whether rumors that 30% or more of the over $100 billion sent to Ukraine has been stolen, American weapons intended for Ukraine are known to have been diverted to Northern Africa and other theaters of warfare. With the Nordstream pipeline expose by journalist Seymour Hersh, the opportunity has arisen for citizens of the world, including the Anglosphere, to take another path, away from war, and free themselves and their nations from probable total destruction.
Intelligence professional Ray McGovern’s recent testimony at the United Nations Security Council regarding Nordstream was an important step forward on that path from senseless war to sanity. He and Harley Schlanger are the presenters for today’s Manhattan Town Meeting.
